Load advice for 6x47 Lapua needed

Hey guys,

My personal 6x47 Lapua is just about ready to roll. I need some suggestions for
loads, running 105 Berger VLD and Varget. I will also be running CCI 450 primers. Thanks for any and all advice.:D:D

I'm running 39.5g of imr4451 under 105 hybrid's with standard CCI primers. I'm moving to HBN coating also. It's looking promising.

39.3 imr 4451, 105 AMAX's and CCI 450's

Took the load out to 1500 yards this morning for the fun of it. I got a few hits but they were very hard to see on a rock from that distance.

Varget is going to be too fast for a 6mm case this size.

Look for powders in the vicinity of H4350 and IMR7828SSC. The IMR-AA-H4350s, VV N160, H4351, IMR4451, IMR7828SSC are more in the range you need to be looking for.

Thanks Joe and Tim,

Now I have somewhere to start. I did try H4350 in my 6.5x47 and was not impressed. Varget works great in the 6.5, so I thought I would give it a shot in the 6mm version.:D:D

Thanks guys,
Paul

A good friend, very knowledgeable on the 6.5 version shoots 1000 IBS said H4895 is very popular in the 6.5 version. I`m going to give it a try, as the 130 VLD shot best in mine, with RL15, but the 140`s didn`t fare as well, only tested H4350 with those.

I shoot 105 Berger hybrids behind 36.0 grains of varget and cci 450 primers. It's going roughly 3020 fps. On hooter days though it does tend to have a harder bolt lift. I have had good luck stretching it out as far as 1600 yards on steel.

Gentlemen, Please keep the info coming! I, too have a new 6x47 Lapua in the works!!! Most all parts are at the gunsmith, & I have a new box of 6.5x47 brass to form down to 6mm. Also already have a box of Berger 105 Hybrids. So, guys, please keep it coming!! I've heard good things about H-4350.... Thank to you all!!!!!! Idaho-45

we have new build with 300 rds down the bbl. it love the 105 bergers with 40grs h-4350 but hates imr-4350. this gun will shoot 1/4 in all day if I do my part. gun is a joy to shoot.

I shot a 6x47L last weekend and the two accuracy nodes with 107 grain Sierra Tipped projectiles was 38.5 and 39.5 grains of H4350. No personal experience with this cartridge, but the owner of the rifle had a lot of experience.

For the longest time I used Reloader 17 and it did well. Good velocity. 39 grains of it gave me 3970fps with a 105 Berger hybrid. I went up to 40.5 and could get almost 3100 fps out of it but it didn't group good.
When Reloader 16 came out I got some and gave it a try. It grouped better than anything I had tried in my 6 x 47 Lapua. It is a bulky powder and 39 grains of it filled the case up to the neck. Out of a 25 inch barrel the velocity was 2966 with an ES of 9. Like I said, it grouped better than anything I had tried so I bought an 8lb keg of it. By the way, I use CCI-450 primers.
I will also mention this; R-16 is working well in my 6.5 Creedmoor with Berger 130 AR Hybrids.
Just a few more ideas for you. Good luck with your 6x47. You will enjoy it
Larry
