Sympathies to the OP and others who are/will be facing a similar situation.
Over a decade ago I learned a lifelong friend had developed Lou Gehrig's Disease. We had played music together and enjoyed decades of shooting sports together but I had relocated a thousand miles away. About four months before the end he communicated to me, "Rent a truck and come get everything". I wasn't able to do it before the end and so everything was scattered to the winds including several lifetimes of ammunition.
Also reminds me of my grandmother, having fainted on a couch when she was relocating to an assisted care facility, while dozens of antiques from the mid-1800s were hauled away and she got maybe three cents on the dollar of actual value.
An awful situation and condolences to all. Beware conmen, they prey on these situations
