I received my Trident a few days ago and I am very pleased with everything - from the workmanship to the design.
Before going to the range I tried it at home and discovered that the front stop was too high and rubbed against the barrel. This was the case with my 284W rifle with a Cerus stock, pictured below, as well as with my 7-6.5 PRCW rifle with a McMillan stock.
I did not want cut the original stop piece, so I made a new one which is 1/4" shorter, and it works fine. I could have made it 3/8" shorter and it would still work fine. I used an 8-32 SHCS instead of a setscrew to secure the stop.
Also, I have been spoiled by my NEO-X and the ability to adjust the height of the rest without having get up from the prone shooting position, as would be required to reach the Mariner wheel of the Trident. This may not be an issue when shooting from the bench, but I shoot F-Class primarily, and at 80 years old, getting up to reach the Mariner wheel is something I prefer to avoid. To solve this, I made a stick with a Ø5/16" short dowel at the end, and it works great. The stick is easy to used to unlock the bottom lever, turn the Mariner wheel in either direction, and lock the bottom lever when done.
Perhaps this could help some of the new Trident owners?
