light bullets in the 6br

How light of a bullet will the 6 br with a 1 in 8 twist handle? I have a chance to get some 58 grain form a guy at the club but wasn't sure how light it would work with and still be laser accurate... ::) ::) ::)

Depending on your freebore and the base to ogive measurement, you may have to jump them a considerable amount to keep them in the neck. How that would effect accuracy in your barrel is the unknown.

Well, I've shot 64.2 columns, 65 Barts Ultimates, 68 Hottensteins in my 8-twist. They all shot "adequately" but the freebore is set for the heavier bullets. My 8-twist Shilen ratchet rifled 24-inch barrel LOVES the 80 grain Berger Varmint match bullets, but I've moved on to a 22-inch 14-twist and it shoots the lighter/smaller bullets a LOT better.

You might be able to get the smaller bullets to "touch" but there won't be much bullet in the case neck. The only thing I couldn't shoot in my 8-twist was the 87 Vmax, so if you're getting some 58 Vmaxes, you might also have problems.

today tried the 65 gr Hornady vmax at 250 which is our normal distance here for the F class.....I have to say I was very surprised with the accuracy.Powder was H 4895.....I want to try them again..I shoot 10 instead of the normal 5 or 3 shots....And they were pretty darn close to impact point of the 68 gr. Bergers that I normaly use...My weakest point is consistency of the hold on the rifle..I need tons of practice for this.Althought I have won once and second place a few times....Just wanted to pass this along.....
