6XC And Light Bullets

Just put together a 6XC varmint gun. It hs a 10 twist but will be used on small stuff, pd's and chucks. Light bullets - 70/75 down to 55/58, depending on what shoots best. All the loading data and things iI've read is about heavier stuff, which I wont be messing with. Does anyone shoot one of these with light bullets? I'd like to know what works for you.

I have a 6xc in a 9 twist for hunting/ varmint shooting. It shoots 58-100 grain bullets quite well.

I ran a 6xc bolt gun with a 1:8 twist for many years shooting hi power competition. When I quit hi power the last barrel was pretty new and I tried 75gr Hornady V Max bullets and AR2208 (Varget). I didn't expect much but it shot like a laser. I used it for pest control and crop mitigation work for several years and it was brilliant. Never had a jacket failure but I kept velocity at 3200fps.

Thanks. I've plenty of 75VM, that and 70BT's are on the list. Actually I've most everything. Including Varget. Will try it. BTW - A friend shot 75VM's in his 6AI at about 3800 and they were awesome on chucks, just awesome. That bullet will handle velocity. Speed works.

I've put a few looksee rounds together with 760, which was just a guess. Plenty more choices.

80 gr. Flat Based, Berger "Varmn'ts", Do real well ( "Bug Holes" 5 shots into .3's ) from my 24", 1-7.5 twist, 6XC at, 3,200 fps with, IMR 4350.
Shot a few, Sage Rats to 300 yds with, them BUT, NOT as, Spectacular as, my .22-250 w/ 50 V-Maxes, tho.
Be Nice to have, a "Matching" a 1- 9 or, a 1-12 Twist Barrel, in 6 XC for, Light Bullets and some,.. SPEED !
Gotta think that, the 75 V-Max @ 3,400 + would Be,.. Dynamite !!!

I've been shooting a 6xc 10tw Lilja stainless sporter weight walk around rifle for over 15 years on 'chucks, coyotes, deer, and a couple of wild hogs. What has worked best is 75gr Vmax, also 70gr NBT, 80gr Sierra Blitz, and Sierra 85gr HPBT. R-15 works just fine, 4064 & R16 work pretty well too. Norma brass and LR primers. It's been accurate since day one and still is. Easiest hunting rifle to load for that I've ever had. JME. The 75gr Vmax with R15 comes out around 3540fps ish. ;) ;) :)WD

Thanks. This reamer was spec'd for the 70BT ( I believe .030 fb), they seat about perfect in that neck. And I'm well set with most all of the varmint 6's. In any 22-250 case I use nothing but R-15 and it's worked very well in everything. Since the 6XC is essentially a necked up 22-250AI which I've shot for many years with R-15, but hadn't thought about it in terms of a 6mm. I like hearing that it's good in XC case. . Gonna try it.
