LIGHT BULLET 6BR LOADS

WOW NO ONE SHOOTING THE 6BR WITH LIGHT BULLETS 1-14 TWIST,ITS WHAT THE 6BR IS ALL ABOUT.I MEAN I THINK ITS COOL THAT PEOPLE SHOOT HEAVY BULLETS WITH FAST TWIST AND HAVE GOOD RESULTS. BUT MY OPINION IS THERE ARE MUCH BETTER CARTRIDGES FOR THEM HEAVY BULLETS.MY EXPERINCE WITH THE 6BR HAS BEEN OVER 10 YEARS IN TWO DIFFERENT RIFLES AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY EITHER RIFLE WOULD OUT SHOOT A 6PPC MOST OF THE TIME,UNLESS YOU RAN INTO A REALY HOT SHOOTING 6PPC THE 6BR WILL OUT SHOOT IT.MY 3 22PPC'S OR THE TWO 6PPC'S SHOT WELL MOST OF THE TIME BUT MY TWO 6BR'S SHOT WELL ALL THE TIME.THE 6BR I SHOOT NOW WILL SHOOT AGG'S UNDER .200. MANY GROUPS @.126. AND NEVER STRAY OVER .350'S.GO TO A BENCH SHOOT AND SEE ALL THE TARGETS OVER.500 SHOT WITH A 6PPC.THE THAT BR. TRY RL 10X WORKS IN ALL TEMPS GREAT VELOCITY(3,500FPS)WITH 65-68GR BALLS

I re-chambered my Hunter class rifle from 6ppc to 6br the other day... it never shot that well as a PPC but now has come alive as a BR...my load is 31.2gns of H322 with a 67gn projectile...rifle is a REM700 with a Maddco barrel in a laminated stock...we don't have a calibre restriction in Aus, in case you're wondering why it was a PPC.

Cheers

I will agree that slow twist 6BRs that I have seen were very accurate. Now about agging under .2....that requires good weather, and that everything else is perfect. Are you near any group Benchrest matches? When you come on a public board and make these kind of claims, you invite skepticism. How do you measure your groups?? What sort of equipment do you use to measure them? What sort of rest do you use? How is your rifle stocked? What does it weigh? What scope are you using? Are you shooting over flags? I know some of the best Benchrest shooters in the world, and if you claim that you and your BR shoot better than PPCs, I think that a demonstration at a match is in order...don't you?

Yes i agree with you,i tryed benchrest shooting-after having spent a truck load of money on top gunsmith built rifles,i had 3 22ppc and 2 6ppc(full custom rifles). and for some reason i could never get them to shoot consistantly good. I shot in one benchrest shoot with a ppc and did terrible.I did not enjoy it,Im not a competition shooter.Im a experimenter, accuracy buff. But any time someone would want to go to the range for proof i would go.-Example a benchrest shooter wanted to shoot my one br he said the true test of a rifle's accuracy was at 200yrds so i met him at his range and let him shoot my old 6br(loaded-70burger MEF) the first three shots were in the bottom of the moth ball in the same hole-IN ZERO"S-he was very impressed and wanted to stop shooting and save that target.I told him no he had to keep shooting and the next two shots opened the group up-(say .400). we shot some more,i shot one of his 6ppc. all at 200yds i would say that 6ppc beat me that evening in agg's.But the best groups from both rifles were in the .300's.Ah the rifle i shoot now is vey special(to me) Old hart 1A action jwell trig, reworked and piller bedded in mcmilliam benchrest stock by a fellow named mike toth..I special orderd a 3 gruve,1-14 twist.pac nor SSSM. final action work and chambering done by Bob White(.269nk). Its by farr the most accurate rifle i have ever owned-more accurate than my old 6br in that i can shoot under .200 with it,my older br would shoot like say.202,.280,.269 and so on but it never shot under a .200 this rifle has shot low 1s to give you an example i had 15 match cases loaded with my load went to the range, yes early morning great conditions, .210,.126,.247. and i have not been shooting it just incase the bench bug bites me again. But this all started with Hey anybody shooting RL10x in thier 6br. I think it might be the best powder with 60-70 gr bullets and it seems to work from 30deg to 95deg, Im i like the only br shooter who has ever tryed and liked it. it seems strange that the br was uncool when i was shooting it and now its popular but im the only one shooting the RL 10 powder? Hmm!

Let me get this straight, you had a 6ppc and then rechambered it 6br and it shoots better? If that is the case i would say H322 shoots very well but wont hold up consistently, suggest if you have access to a can of RL10 you give it a try.
