light .30 cal bullets

I have a 1-10 twist Krieger HV barrel on my Stiller Predator, .308 cal.

for some reason it seems to like very light bullets, the .123 gr Lapua FMJ is shooting .1" 3 shot groups at 100m but at longer ranges it's not a good bullet for competition.

the 167 and 185gr Scenar is shooting .25" 3 shot groups at 100m

what other light .30 cal bullets are available ? something I can use in competition ?

Dan,
110vmax, and 125 Nosler Ballistic tips. but you will have to push them pretty hard if you go beyond the 300 yard stick. i would recomment the 168 hybrid from berge...not a vld, not a regular BT. read about them try about 15 thou off the lands they are pretty tolerant of seating depth. they should be one of the few in the weight class to go out to the 600 aside from the "palma" family. hope this helps.
cheers,
doc

I know this is an old thread.... So, I bought some older110 Sierra HP bullets. My 308 has a 1/10 twist. I may have an old '06 target rifle with a slower twist. Do any of you guys shoot this bullet at 200 Y or less? And what kind of accuracy do you get?

Hammer bullets. Hammer hunters 137gr have been insanely accurate and lethal. I imagine their 144gr Target Hammer would be the cat's meow.

I'd try the 155s and work my way down, there are a bunch of Berger bullets that might work for pure accuracy...but the BC won't be good for longer shots or in more adverse conditions.
Lapua also makes a 308 HP bullet 100 grains part # 4PL7224 Lapua.
308 100 GR OTCE Cutting Edge ..." extreeme accuracy for paper target shooting and varmint or pest control." Never tried them for that but work in 300 Blackout and 300 Hamr.

110 Vmax and 125 TNT have been good to me in 30/06 and 308.
I never had much luck with the Hornady 110 in anything but I know some have. The 125 TNT has been a hidden gem for a long time. My current bbl just doesn't like them, assuming they still are the same good bullet they always have been. I may try backing the load down a tad with them in this bbl. When the 30BR became popular, the most common load was around 33.8 of H4198. It just seemed to shoot everything well around there. Over time, we've moved up from there and most people shooting a 30Br are at 34.5 to as much much as they can get in the case...near 36.0ish. This really just dawned on me and MIGHT be why this bbl hasn't shot the 125 TNT like all others I've tried them in. I may revisit that a bit with this bbl, and see what it's worth.

This load performed best in my M-7 Hunter 30BR 1 - 15 Tw.

I have never heard of a Kreiger 1-10 that won't shoot 165g +. Surely something else going on here? Chambering?
Well, the thread is about lightweight 30 cal bullets. Yes, A 165 is a light bullet too, in the long range game but not what I'd consider a light 30 cal bullet, overall. Maybe just a different mindset that creates a different understanding of what light actually means in this context. Hell, either of us could be right or wrong in this context. That's the beauty of the 30 cal, a huge array of bullet weight selection for different disciplines and they(most) all work well.
Since the thread is 13 years old, I doubt it's worth arguing about. Lol!
