Life lesson learned the hard w

My sister's kid shoots alot of skeet for 4h and Everytime they went to a shoot in one town people would break into cars at the hotels looking for guns... They found out how the bad guys knew which trucks.. they would look inside if they saw ear plugs they would break in... You can't leave anything that may say there's something inside worth stealing....

A cheap fix. Harbor Freight has these right now for $10. It is a driveway alarm and works wirelessly up to 300+ feet. Battery powered by a 9v and three C cells. Lay the sensor in the vehicle and the alarm in your house. If anything moved the alarm will go off and is loud enough to wake you up (2 levels of sound plus the light on top flashes).
alarm.jpgA couple fixes will help. Put a piece of electrical tape over the little red LED so no one will know it's there. Then on the inside, take the sensor unit apart. (real easy to do) Inside you will see a plastic shield with a slot. That is to narrow the field of view for a driveway. Remove that and you'll have a 90° field of view sideways. I use these for a garage alarm. A large bug can sometimes set them off so I use 2. If both alarms go off at the same time, then someone or someone is in there. They will have no clue they have been discovered until they are looking down the barrel of an AR or a 12 gauge.

Nakneker, let me put something in perspective for ya'.....you have a son that not only finished college, he put himself through it!!! He has my highest respects and admiration and I seriously mean just what I say!!!
Last year when my daughter graduated high school I had one word for her in regards to college..."choose". She picked one and went for one semester. She came home one day and said, "you know what? This whole college thing might not be for me." I tried to explain to her that "the really hard part about college is paying for it and you don't have that problem!!! I said, "Why don't you stay and finish it so you have it??"
My point is that I would let someone steal all of my best double guns if she would just go and let me worry about the bill. Forget about the stupid guns, be happy for the son you have!!!

I appreciate this. It is how I look at things. We have seven children, 5 went on to college. 3 have graduated, two are still going. One went on to grad school and now she goes by Doctor. We haven’t spent 2k for education on the lot of them. One of the kids that didn’t go to college sat me my wife down one day and got pretty blunt with me and my wife telling us college was not her thing. Today she is a Scuba guide in Australia and likes to travel and dive all over the world. To her credit she works hard and manages her funds and she is happy. You never know which road they will take, you just love them and guide them the best you can. I hope things go well for your daughter msinc!

Nakecker, Its a terrible thing that happened, but coming from a long law enforcement background let me tell you as we are out doing our job, frequently we do come across stolen guns, and when the Serial # are reported we are able to contact the victims. And let me tell you it is one of the more enjoyable parts of the job to be able to make a phone call and tell some one we have found their stolen gun and we want to return it. It doesn't happens often as we would like, but it happens more than people think. Sometimes its sooner and sometimes it may be years later but it does happen. I will be crossing my fingers and sending you some good JU JU!

Thanks Muley. The serial numbers have been reported and maybe some luck will come my Son’s way, that sure would be nice. He’s taken a bunch of steps to help ensure it doesn’t happen again, atleast up the odds that it doesn’t. Thieves can get pretty damn determined, you already know that though doing what you do. Thanks again for the good words.
