Things that I learned from the trial

You are not wrong sir. I have been following both pretty closely. It's true the deceased, and the accused both did plenty of things wrong that led to loss of life. And while the media has put their expected spin on it, I think the easiest way to sum it up and draw comparisons between the two trials is: There won't be any defamation lawsuits coming from these defendants attorneys.
And if there was any defamation lawsuit, it won't go anywhere and won't result in anything except in waste of time and waste of air time with media BS and waste of tax payer money.

The DA and others, that are so dead set against the rights of a individual, to protect themselves, especailly if they have or want to use the dreaded AR rifle, will not go with facts and truths in a case. They use their wants and agenda to promote lies and try to charge someone, like Rittenhouse, with crimes they have not even committed. Never will bring out rap sheet, nor crimes, their so called victims did and make it seem like the only criminal is the one they have charged. And the news media, being so corrupt anymore, just promotes it also, with out checking or having the true facts.
At least this jury did the right thing, saw the true facts and therefore found Rittenhouse "Not Guilty".
But you can see how some, along with the media will not accept that and are still pushing and causing protests and criminal activity and getting away with it.
Something like the Dutch are doing with their present rioter/protesters needs to occur in the USA. LE start using live ammo and arresting protesters, rather than let them get away with their criminal activity of destroying others property and attacking innocent people, in their way.

Live ammo worked well at Kent State in the May 4, 1970. "Protest/riots" ended immediately!!!!!!!

I learned a few very important details about this incident that all of the news outlets failed to mention. I didn’t know the gas station where it all started and where Kyle stayed up until they started attacking him, is owned by his grandparents. They came on to his property to attack him.

I didn't know that Kyle put out a dumpster fire that was being rolled down to a gas station to blow up, with people all around.

I didn't know that the Police were told to stand down as businesses were destroyed.

I didn't know that Kyles Dad, Grandma and Friends all lived in Kenosha, 20 minutes from where he resided with his Mom part time in Illinois.

I didn't know that someone knocked Rittenhouse down twice and then attempted to kick him with lethal force to the head.

I didn't know that Huber had hit him in the head 2x with a skateboard.

I didn't know Gaige Grosskreutz, aimed his gun at Kyle first, as he admitted on the stand.

I also didn't know that in the State of Wisconsin, it is legal for Kyle to have a gun, even at 17 (which was why the gun charge was dismissed).

I didn't know that Kyle did not cross state lines with a gun he wasn't supposed to have. The rightful gun owner did, as he was legally permitted to do.

I also didn't realize that Rosenbaum was a 5 time convicted child rapist and that Huber was a 2 time convicted woman beater. I didn't know that Grosskreutz was a convicted Burglar with an assault on his record also.

IF THE MEDIA DID THEIR JOB... we would ALL have known this and tax payers dollars would not be wasted and more division created!
The behavior of virtually ALL mainstream media outlets is properly call “propaganda” rather than news or journalism.
Facts move rapidly to the back of the bus, then are hastily pushed out the rear door and down the rabbit hole, never to be seen again.
Unless of course their resurrection at a later date somehow serves the interests of the state.

Another point with the riot/protestors, looters like what some are doing in S.F. Portland and other states, they have the tools and enter a store, smashing glass tops, etc. and looting thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and walk out. That is Burglary and pre-planed, which is a felony. Felon's can be shot or have deadly force used on them, so LE or the store owner or a citizen, legally armed should just drop them in their tracks, with the loot and all on their person. Justice would be served and they would not be continuing their criminal activity.

It'll work at everybody else's venue and home, equally well. (Works at mine.) If only people would refuse to be victimized and put a halt to violence as it's occurring. Once that "sea change" happens, it'll be clear nobody's going to tolerate further attempts of predatory behaviors. Not likely within our lifetimes, but each can decide for themselves. As it should be.

Far too many expect to "wing it" when a deadly situation arises, expecting "magic" to happen or expecting the criminal(s) to allow a phone call to the cavalry. Doesn't generally end well. Tends to end better, in the case of those who are prepared and have effective means of putting a halt to such violence.

Of course, the "have nots" (those disregarding the utiilty of being well-armed) won't likely ever appreciate that. Sadly, they tend to be the ones who come after everyone's RKBA and who push such attempted accusations against people who dare stand up to the mob when it aims at us.

Lots of lessons to be learned from this trial. If only people are willing to see.

It worked in Koreatown, when the post-Rodney King rioting was burning Los Angeles down around everyone's ears. Precious few predators thought victimizing folks down those streets was worth their very lives.

It can work well, stiffly saying "No. Hell no!" to such people.

The media DID their job. Quite effectively, I might add. That is why you didn't know those things prior to the trial. The facts did not fit the media's liberal narrative or agenda, and so the media had to remove and/or replace the facts. It's what they do.

Does Wisconsin have a Grand Jury system?

  • The grand jury plays an important role in the criminal process, but not one that involves a finding of guilt or punishment of a party. Instead, a prosecutor will work with a grand jury to decide whether to bring criminal charges or an indictment against a potential defendant -- usually reserved for serious felonies.
Most states have a dual system. Prosecutors can present evidence to a Grand Jury and ask for an indictment OR the police can present an “information” file with evidence and statutory law references and then the prosecutor can file charges. I believe the ‘information” route is what happened in this case.

I would assume that the vast majority of Americans feel exactly as the OP.

The media, and many of our so called Leaders made false claims, distorted facts, and flat out lied about many of the important circumstances surrounding this case. They did this so their reported version would fit their agenda.

When then Candidate Biden actually used the premise that Rittenhouse was a white supremest in his campaign ads to garner favor with certain factions in his party, he publicly slandered a private citizen. At that time Joe Biden was a private citizen.

I hope that Rittenhouse can acquire the finest attorneys to aid in his lawsuits against all of those that used their power and public platform to report as fact things that turned out to be rumor and fabrications.

That's a really good question. A grand jury should have been a check against this overzealous prosecutor.

The Grand Jury system in this country is not designed in such a way that defense has a chance. First the sessions are never published. the only evidence is presented by the State. There is never any exculpatory evidence presented. The States Attorney has complete control of any testimony presented and the only way a dismissal of a case is going to happen is if the State wants it too happen.

If you will think back, prior to about ten years ago, rarely was a law enforcement officer indicted in cases of misjudgement. Today even the most minor case results in charges being brought and indictments being handed down. In my prior life, I spent many years investigating homicides and rapes. I have testified before the Grand Jury ore times than I can remember. You are not allowed to just talk there. You can only respond to questions asked. Members of the Jury can and do ask questions, but rarely anything which might tend to exonerate the suspect. The states Attorney has complete control and in most cases he directs the Jury members towards an indictment.

Even if that States Attorney believed Kyle was not guilty, he had little choice but to seek an indictment. It was a politically enforced decision in an effort to diffuse a volatile situation. In another time, this would have never happened. The state would have simple made an statement that he committed no crime.

Kyle had a lot going for him. The first police he came in contact with he actually told him that he shot someone. They ignored him, telling him to move along. When arrested, he did not try to hide the facts. Still in all, he was a victim of the times.
