lf You Had Just ONE BULLET CHOICE for Prairie Dogs??

20 Vartarg 10 twist, 32 gr VMax is favorite, 40 gr VMax if windy

.223, 8 twist, 60 Vmax for higher winds when the 40 grainers won't work

52grn Berger match in my 223 stolle.1-14 proof carbon barrel.its a dedicated night vision rig for foxes.it shoots really tight groups with the Bergers and they kill foxes like snuff.

50 gr Nosler BT. Might be a better bullet out there, but it really kills PD's in a 220 Swift. When the 204 barrel gives up the ghost, I'm going to 40 grain bullets with the proper twist.
I think you shoud stay with the 32. I've shot about 70,000 32gr and 40gr vmax,s out of 20 Ackley hornet, 20 killer bee, 20 vartarg, 20 tactical, 204r and one thing I'm sure of is, I like the 32 better hands down. Way more acrobatics with the 32. I get a kick out of people talking about heavier bullets with less wind drift. "It's always windy", so what. Make a wind call adjustment, Pull the trigger, see the impact. If it's a miss. Correct the Hold over and teach the critter how to fly.

On the .22 cal bullet. My 1st choice would be a 50 tnt. They used to be inexpensive and I bought 8 of the bulk packs when they were $62.00 a 1000 . When/if I run out, I may change my mind.

But I hardly take anything but a .20 cal anymore. Why would I. For. Squirrels and prairie dogs they give me what I need for a lot less. Less powder , less heat, less recoil. Less noise. Less wear and tear on the rifle and me.

50 gn. Sierra Blitz in my 14 twist 22PPC. Shot em all and NOTHING matches the accuracy with that extreme explosion. Nothing gets back in the hole when I do my part. Shoot the same bullet in my 12" twist 22:250 and my 12" twist .223.
Very accurate and explosive. Shot them in everything .22cal. Do drop ship deals in bulk where they'd cost maybe 8 cents each. Now I'll go with BlitzKing 50's.

50 TNT is my favorite also. I think they explode as well as any 50 grain I have tried. Including the 50 BK.

Well, l missed my PD shoot in May because wife was ill. Year's not over tho. 0ne thing l have been doing is SHOOTING. Amazed how practice helps, even at 77! l have been shooting 50gr tipped. Accuracy has improved since switching from 40s. l started this quest back in FEB groups were in the .7inch range. They're better now after using ACCURACY loads in Sierra and Nosler manuals. l may get to shoot PDS this year and maybe NOT. At the moment l am ready!

The key word "Just one"

I don't even have to give it any thought. Its the 87 V Max for me. Even for the ones 30 yards out.

I usually go with what's decently priced at the time. Years back, Hornady Z-Max were much cheaper than their V-Max. I went to the p-dog fields with 55gr Z-Max bullets. They did well out of my .223.

Right now, the ''ONE'' for me is a 50gr tipped Varmageddon for my Cooper 21 Varmint in 222Rem. With supply/ demand issues today it helps to have a second choice for ''Just One''.
