Leupold

That is ok since I have dropped them from my line.
The Sightron TAC line works for me, as good and costs less.
I have also dumped Leupold. They used to be my go-to scope manufacturer. I've bought a bunch of Leupolds over the years. IMNHO, they lost their way. I could buy "branded" clothing and sunglasses from them, but not the scopes I want. I don't want their "screen door" reticles, and I can't go to the defunct custom shop to change out reticles. Some of their reticles are so cluttered you can barely see the target. Non-starters for this guy.

I am decidedly old school. All I want is a dot and crosshairs in a 2nd focal plane MOA scope. The pinnacle of their offerings was the 6.5-20 LRP with a dot and tapered crosshairs from the custom shop. I'd buy gobs more of them if they hadn't discontinued the scope and shut down the custom shop.

I'm sure Leupold is just following the money. It's a business after all. I guess I'm just not their target customer. So, I happily pay more for Nightforce scopes these days. While most of their reticles are more complicated than I'd like, they're good enough. Nightforce mechanics and optics are superb. No complaints.

So Leupold is suspending their competition line to focus on other things? I wonder if it will be? Home furnishings, wool blankets or cookware? It won't matter, Leupold is sadly in my past.

Source is Leupold
I went looking for a comp scope and none found so I contacted them. They asked me to be patient. I told them I needed a scope and would go elsewhere for it. They said they would be coming out with a new comp scope and to be patient. I told them they should have came out with it BEFORE dropping the current line.
I think they want to focus on the F class and prs scopes as they are the best sellers. I also asked if they had a bunch of kids with a box of crayons designing reticles. @Krogen I too am very disappointed in them. They make it harder to buy American

Thanks for the info.

I agree, the LRP line was fantastic. All of the features you need and none of the crap you don't all while being simple enough for the remedial shooter and the numbers on the dial big enough for the older shooters to see well.

The Golden Ring and Buckmark logos are as much a redneck status symbol as anything else.

Sorry for the butt hurt.

So, this is their exit strategy... I bought my first new Leupold in summer of 1979. When they began to cater to the K-Mart crowd I went to Vortex and a couple March's. Vortex is starting to slide that direction as well, lately with the Philipine* builds.
