Leupold vari-x 6 3-18x44

My leupold vari-x 6 3-18 x44 arrived today. i got to look through it for a few minutes around 5:30pm eastern time.
from what i could see it looked great. got it mounted up on savage 16 in 6.5 creedmoore. I hope to shoot it this weekend if i can and spend some more time comparing it to other scopes. only problem i could find with it so far is it is kind of short between the power ring and turret in the rear and short between the turret and bell in the front.
there is very little movement to move it around. I would think trying to mount it to my kimber 8400 long action may be alittle bit of trouble..at least that is the way it seems to me..

anyone else have one?
if so what do you think of it?
I went with the 44mm because 1} it was $100.00 cheeper. and i have never really had a problem with my vari-x2 4-12 x40 in low light. so i felt if it was any better than my vari-x 2 then it would be good enough. pluss less bulk on a hunting rifle is not a bad thing.

well what i have been able to do with it so far is. at 6:28am dark enough you could not see the the numbers on the power ring, looking across the yard @ 40 yards of open to the woods, on 3 power i could see well enough to shoot in the open but could not see back into the woods. at 6:38am i could see well enough to see back into the trees. still way before legal shooting time. by 7:00am i could zoom all the way up to 18 power. so more than good enough for me. at the range at 7:15 am 40 deg F hazy overcast gloomy type of morning, typical hunting season type of morning. had it up on 18 and it looked as good as anything i feel you could look through. shot several groups out of the 6.5CM . im happy with it. my opinion is: it is real close to the 3-18 z5 swarovski. has as much field of view and down on 3 power in low light it looks great. the swarovski has it still overall, in weight and mountability.but optik wise it is real real close.
