Leupold Vari-X III Turret

I have a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20 that has the old style turrets. Does anyone know if there is still a way to have the turrets changed to a target style turret on these older scopes?

I believe the custom shop is still closed, but you can simply call Leupold and ask them. Been a couple years since I asked and the issue was they had expanded manu into that space so to bring it back they would need dedicated shop space again.

I just called and received the same story thst you did a couple years ago.

For anyone else wondering, the answer is no unless the custom shop reopens. The official story is that it will reopen at some point, but no ETA is available. Personally, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Edit:

I called Ironsite and spoke to a super nice guy. He said that they get more calls about target turrets one Leupold scopes than anything else, and they could do it if Leupold would sell him the parts.

On the bright side, he might able to help me with a couple of other older scopes that need some attention.

Stoney Point used to make "Turrets" that threaded onto the existing cap threads. I haven't looked lately, but something to look at.

Do a WTB on Stony Point dials. I sold my last 3-4 a few yrs back. (May have one ratholed but not sure)

Also Kenton (I think that’s name) does aftermarket dials for Leupolds.

Thanks! It looks there are some on Stony Points on EBay. I’ll see if I can find a set from highly rated seller and give them a try. Will check out Kenton as well.

I ordered 2.
1 fit, 1 did not.
They are sending another.

The 1 that fit does not have many threads of engagement.
If I were starting over, I would pass.
It seems like a good concept.

I used to have a bunch of those older 1"tube Leupolds and the thing I remember the most was they were not very good at tracking or return to zero. Maybe it was just me.

I found the Stoney point knobs do not stay tight on the VX-III Lepould. I used a file and made a flat surface on the stem. The set screw will stay tight but you have to watch it.
