Leupold Premier boosted scope

Afellow offered to sell me a Leupold scope that had been boosted by Premier back in the day. It now is a 18x 40 or 42 and has a bubble level attached to it. It is perfect except 2 small ring marks on it. What do you think it is worth? It was hardly used and was the quality of work done to it good stuff. Thanks.....DAN.....

Sorry, can't tell you what it is worth. But I have an identical scope that was increased by Premier. Have shot at least 2,000 rounds on my 6.5 x .284 with no issues what so ever. The scope is just as bright NightForce 42x BR.

Dan, I own some of these scopes and they are good merchandise. Now the down side. If you have a mechanical problem, neither Premier nor Leupold will work on it, even for pay. I have been there and had the experience.
There is not a scope tech that I can find, that can or will change a reticle in a premier bumped scope. Larry in wetern Ky.

I too owned one and the quality of work was very good, I had no issues with mine, I wanted to move up to a NF 12-42, so I sold mine on ebay right at 400 dollars. As Larry said you will have a hard time finding anyone to fix it if something goes wrong. But I don't worry about things like that. I don't use my scopes for hammers.

If you are interested in this scope and can get it in your hand, just make sure clicks feel good and that the reticle moves, and you'll be fine.

I had the opportunity to buy a Premier modified Leupold 36xBR, at a fair price, but passed on it for the issue of needed repairs in the future. Just not comfortable to be in that situation.

hello dtucker, I own two PREMIER's (20x50x50) and three NF'S(12x42x56). i'd take the premier's any day over the NF's(more power and less wieght). as far as price goes i've seen them on this forum and others for $1100-1400. would not sell mine for any reason unless i go blind!! good luck in your search,if you find two, i'll take one. all best DOGDUDE

How long ago did they stop doing conversions? My buddy ownes this scope and it was used for a very short time and has been sitting in his gun safe. Sounds like it might make a nice scope for the 6.5x47 lapua i am having built to shoot long range. Do you see any down fall to using it for that. I think i can get it at a real good price. Thanks....DAN....

Will do, I will be going over to visit him to try and work out a price. Still not sure if i even want it. I will see about taking some pictures of it and what he wants for it and send them to you if i don't take it. I will keep in touch.

I find the 18-35X & 18-40X in a 1" tube are selling in the $550-$650 range depending on reticle. The same power conversions in a 30 mm tube with the side parallax adjustment are $650-$750, again depending on reticle.

The harder to find 20-50X 30mm tube models have been sellingint eh $800-$1200 range, depending on reticle with Mil-Dot being the premium and if they had M1 knobs installed instead of the standard Target knobs, Airgun FT shooters love the things in Europe and I've seen them listed and sold for $1600 USD.

BTW I still have ads up on most of the Web Forums looking to buy Premier Leupold Boosted scopes.

I'm more interested in the 20-50 & 30-50 models but am open to all, like the 36X Mark 4 and the 18-40 in 30mm tube.

Yes indeed a good thread that you linked there Steve,... the truth about Dick Thomas and his Premier business. I knew that Leupold shut him down but I had no clue as to the gory details. Wow!

Call anyone or all of these gentlemen and pose you question. Personally, I'd start with Wally first because I've dealt with him and I believe he worked for Leupold for 30+ years.
