Let's talk timing muzzle brakes / tuners, and threadlockers

When installing a tuner or muzzlebrake, do use a threadlocker? If so, do you use Rocksett, Loctite, or this?https://www.amazon.com/Vibra-TITE-19960-Temperature-Threadlocker-Translucent/dp/B07XW2ZTZL
If you don't use a threadlocker, do you use shims to tune it, crush washer, or machine down the brake for proper timing? I just honed down a crush washer to make a PCC FH/brake clock properly, because I don't really like the "permanantness" of Rocksett, but I'm still not completely confident, even know I torqued it about 20 ft/lbs, thus the interest in the Hot-Lock stuff. I have a Cortina Brake/tuner coming for a different rifle, so please share your thoughts before it arrives! Lol
Thanks Guys!

No loctite for me. A small bit of grease on the threads Is all I use. Timing is as easy as marking top center of your barrel and figuring out how far it moves with the thread pitch. Then just turn your shoulder back that far so it times up. Say it’s a 24 pitch thread 1/24=.041 per turn

I use a dab of blue loctite. I use a switch barrel setup for my XP pistols. When I first put a muzzle brake on them, I had the brake machined to where it was perfect. However, when moving that barrel to another action, the brake may not be timed as it was on the action it was removed from. When setting the headspace from one action to another, it will not be exactly the same so the brake may not be in the correct timing position. I have since switched to the backup nut for my brakes. Much easier to deal with on switch barrels.

I use brakes with a solid bottom. If you use a brake that has ports in 360*s it doesn't matter on the timing.

Typically we time fixed brakes with the lathe and just torque them down / no lock-tite.
I have a Cortina tuner brake and just use the jam-nut self timing feature on it (I use a strap wrench to get it tight).

I use my own one piece tuner that is direct threaded to the barrel and is lightly secured by two 8/32 screws that clamp the thread. So no loctite.AAF80856-85BA-4AE6-9A38-3AB9C8E666AC.jpeg
