Lets talk .22LR match ammo (50-100yd)

Ammoseek does not poll every site. Depending on what your looking for I've seen Eley on both Killough and good shooting.
That was my point. So people know Ammoseek's search is incomplete.

I know Killough had the ammo I searched for in stock when I searched because I immediately looked at Killough's site.

I was just shopping at Killoughs a couple of days ago to get
my grocery list in order, so to speak. Getting them ducks lined
up for testing when the rifle arrives. I have a line on a personal
stash of RWS-50 !! Not cheap but Ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do !!:D

Regardless of testing in a specific rifle....Has anyone tested RWS-100
and Norma Match ?? Not worried about pricing but I did notice the
Norma was only around $8 bucks and claims of it holding it's own
with the higher dollar stuff.

I shot this group last week with Norma Match 22 out of my RimX. 5 shots at 50 yards.

Surprisingly, all of the Lapua and Eley products that I tried did not shoot well at all in my RimX. So far only SK Match and Norma Match have shot well. I was beginning to have my doubts about the RimX until trying the SK and Norma.

Who chambered your RimX and what chamber did they use? If Lapua and Eley aren't shooting well in your RimX it's got nothing to do with the RimX....it's the barrel/chamber your using. I can assure you of thst after putting well over 13,000+ rounds through 25-30 RimX barrels.

I've tested and owned 25-30+ and counting RimX barrels to date and Lapua CenterX and SK shoot lights out in my chamber.

Here some of my RimX testing featured by the Forum Boss here on Accurate Shooter..

RWS R50 is also excellent...especially at 100yd and beyond.

Here a new GM 1.25" straight RimX barrel chambered with my reamer I tested last month.

CenterX @ 50yd

Here some different lots of CX and SK+ and SK RM tested

R50 @ 50yd

100yd

Top row groups is SK+ and SK RM that shot those tiny groups posted above. You can really see how it falls apart at 100yd

Bottom row is the R50 that shines at 100yd and beyond

Padom,
You are right of course about it being the barrel/chamber and not the RimX. The poster that I responded to inquired about Norma Match-22 ammo and I wanted to let him know that it can be capable in the right rifle/chamber/barrel. I plan on testing more different lots of both Lapua Center X and Eley Match that I have had such good results with in the past and currently have some ordered. I have only had the RimX put together for about 2 weeks and I have only tested ammo at 50 yards so far. It looks like you have done a LOT more testing than I have.

Fuj, I shoot Norma Match out of a Sav. Mark II and a Ruger PR. It shoots under 0.72 @ 100. That is the best either have done. But for what I do that is good enough. Both guns are stock. Jeff

Lots of good advice here. Look at Champions Choice, Whidden Gun Works and Bruno Shooters Supply also for ammo - and buy it when you find it. My CZ457 likes almost anything SK, especially Long Range Match. Eley Tenex and Match are also exceptional in my CZ and in my Anschutz/Shilen gun. Don't discount the RWS offerings - RWS Special Match and R50 are great...even the RWS Target Rifle and Rifle Match can be excellent; if they aren't excellent in your rifle they may still be fine for practice. My best scores in ARA factory class came from Lapua Long Range, Lapua Pistol King and SK Long Range Match.

Witnessed some prone 10 meter practice yesterday. one of
the guy's was breaking in a new short barreled CZ-MTR. 10 shots
in the same hole with RWS-50 measuring .238" outside edge,
using globe sights. This was at the indoor pistol range.

Fwiw...armscorp std velocity is ok in my Kimber 82g...and I save the old fed 900b for when I need it....are you watching vista??? There's a reason federal wanted the Russian tech for .22 rf ...and you don't even come close anymore.

I also just picked up a 457 MTR. Have done the Spring Job on the Trigger.
50 yards only to date
CCI Std head thickness sorted? Very Good
All SK shot ok ? Std Special yellow To date Best
SK semi Auto Rifle Black Good
Eley Black Match 2nd Best .

Check Action Screws 15 20 in lb.
Go to Rim Fire Central CZ page Ton of Info .

if you ever get the itch, I'm lovin' the Tmney trigger and especially
the flatter shape of it.

In my rifle, SK failed miserably, along with the Eley Tenex. RWS-R50
was the absolute best, with the X-Act not quite catching it. RWS R100
was also a disappointment. I have more R-50 coming which I will sort
and play with the tuner. As I play with the tuner, I'll re-shoot the ammo
that did not do so well and see what shakes there. Maybe use every .005"
turns on them......

Picking up a CZ 457 MTR for the grandsons and get em' going on the
bench. One is familiar with my .22's and has shown with my Remington
597, he can get some 3/4" groups at 50 yards with CCI mini-mags. For
initial work I found some Wolf extra match made by Eley to get them
started when the rifle arrives......Not worrying about prices. Also, availability
and best places to shop for the higher end ammo.
Best I've found in my 2 22 rifles, one a Tikka T1x,one a Bergara BXR,in this order,Eley, red box eps, Eley black box match,CCI Velocitor dependent on the batch, but all acceptable those are my go to,Wolf match rifle is a VERY close contender and cheap.
