I went to Santa Barbara City College for diving.Good thread. Here’s the birthplace of this Forum which started as 6mmbr.com. Winchester Canyon Gun Club in Santa Barbara. Beautiful spot, but sadly they closed our 600 yard range. For that distance I went to nearby Ojai.

This is where I first shot my Savage with an aftermarket PacNor barrel, chambered in 6mmBR. The first measured group out of the gun with that barrel measured 4 shots in 0.168”. That completely changed my whole perceptions of rifle accuracy, and inspired me to start this Forum.
Prior to the PacNor barrel, the gun with factory .260 Rem barrel shot about 0.8 MOA, but with lots of unexplained flyers. I wasted a season and a half with the factory barrel, trying seven or eight different powders and a host of different bullets. Everything changed with the new barrel and the new chambering.
i can say this, ALL my best barrels, which have included a Brux and a Krieger, have shot in the ones (for 3 shots) immediately. I started about .006” - .008“ past first touch, into the lands, then worked up til I saw pressure, then backed off .3 grains.
I’ve been lucky — virtually no barrel break-in was required with 6BR, 6BRDX, and 6BRA. I use very conservative cleaning methods.
'Morning, Joe. Unfortunately, the dates conflict with a big family event.Al, are you coming to the score nats this year?
