Leica LRF 1200....yea or nay?

okay fellas...those that have the older Leica LRF 1200...how long have you had it..and what are your opinions..

I just picked one up for a really good deal!

I've owned mine for over five years, it's both accurate dependable.

Bought mine off this forum about a year ago. Has never let me down. I really like the scan feature. It's somewhat bigger then the current model, but I feel it's a little easier to hold steady. They also make a mounting bracket that mounts to a tri-pod and holds the unit steady.

I have had mine for many years and it has worked flawlessly. It is a valuable tool for me in my prairie dog shooting forays.

Been using a 1200 scan model for 7 yrs now...never a moments problem at all...well worth the $500 back then...

I don't have the 1200 but the 900 and it's great/reliable and you get what you pay for.....havn't had a client capable of shooting anything over 500 yards EVER so really didn't see going any further

I have used both the old one and the new one, both are super instruments. I think the old one is a little easier to hold still, but in my opinion the new one has better optics and faster acquisition. I have used both to range prairie dogs to 800+ and would not turn either down if offered.

Ive had mine since 2004. Its been flawless. Good quality product. Thats a good thing since there warranty is a night mare like so many other companies out there.

I used to work at a small Gun shop that handled there products along with a bunch of other high end glass and rifles. The owner is an outstanding fella who really stands behind what he sells.
One of our frequent costomers came in with his, after going out in the early Feb morning Coyote hunt with a broken lens.

His version is that he got in the truck and put the LRF on the dash and headed to his next Coyote calling area. The temp was around Zero outside. When he got out and to the calling area the Lens was broken. He said he never bumped it or droped it. If I didnt know the guy I would be suspicous. But I beleive him still today. We tried to send it in and get a reply from there Tech wich took several months. When they did they would not warranty it. ,this went on for 10 months)Not a few dollers off or anything, ZERO and they were kinda rude at the same time. Finally the boss got the local rep to sell him a demo model that he in turn gave the costomer. All out of his own pocket.

Meanwhile mine has endured the exact same abuse and has not missed a beat. So I can say that its been a good product and that im glad I have not had to do any warrenty work with them.

I bought mine a few years back not sure exactly how many but the 1200 was about $475.00 then, I have not had any problems at all. I use it quite often for shooting and bow hunting.

I had a LRF and then bought a CRF. If your going to buy one I highly recomend the CRF. It is much easier to handle. The LRF can be operated with one hand but it is very difficult. The CRF easly operated with one hand. No question to me what I would buy again.
