Leica ER series

I have a new build coming back soon. It's a light mid range rifle, 25x47L. I'm wanting to try something new as far as optics go and was toying with the idea of a Leica 2.5-10x42.

Anybody have any hands on experience with this series of Leica scopes? I'd be interested in your opinion if you do and thank you in advance.

If the glass is anything like the spotting scopes and binos, I'm sure you will like it. I was thinking of one also, just hate to drop the coin.

Europtic has the ER series priced lower than anywhere else I've been able to find. The 2.5-10 model I like it 899.00. I think I'm going to move forward and try one out. Thanks for the input.

I have one and I also have a pair of Leica binos too. There is nothing like your first look thru a Leica.......well there is few things that compare, but they involve a trip to Mexico. Seriously, I have to say that without a doubt you will not be disappointed at all. I have had them all and the brightest, clearest, most corrected, razor sharp and in short the best optics I have looked thru are without a doubt Leica. Buy with complete confidence. When they say Leitz {Lei-ca is the new name for Leitz Camera} is the "crown jewel" of optics..... they are not kidding.
This is one scope where the lit reticle comes in handy because the scope will perform right up until complete blackness and you really might need it for an aiming point. The scope is not heavy as European scopes can sometimes go and I have never had an issue with holding zero or turret adjustment. I look at things a little different than the rest of the world...there is a reason you almost never see Leica scopes for sale used. Just as there is a reason you see a lot of the same certain brands constantly for sale. If you want to learn a little something about a given product just check the classifieds.
If there is a specific question you have please post it, I will certainly try to answer.

Edit: If I had to post any kind of issue with Leica at all I would have to say that once I got one and looked thru it I had a really hard time now deciding which rifle would get to wear it. It's almost to the point where I need about 5 more of them or I am going to get all the same bases on my rifles so I can just move it around according to what I am hunting.

I appreciate your time replying. You touched on a couple things I was curious about, weight and mechanics. I've heard nothing but good things about holding zero and tracking. Since this more of a hunting scope and will be used as such, a lighter weight will be favorable. The glass, if anything like their bi is, is a given. I ordered one, should get here just before I get the rifle back.

I liked your reasoning about the classifieds too, we think along the same lines.

I have a 2.5-10 with the IBS reticle and exposed turret. The glass is phenomenal, and I like the reticle. Only downside to the scope is the exposed turret moves really easily so you constantly have to check to make sure it hasn't moved. If i were to do it again, i wouldn't buy the exposed turret unless it has improved in the last couple years.

I ordered the new dial turret that has a lock on it, hopefully that resolves the moving turret issue. Thanks for the input.

I just ordered a second one with capped turrets. Europtic is running two ERi models at very low prices in the 2.5-10x42s, 539.99 & 699.99. That's about 30% cheaper than I've seen them anywhere.
