When I used to turkey hunt, I used a set advertised by Knight and Hale. They worked really well. They covered the top laces on my snake boots, plus protected the boot pant junction from taking on trash. They were quiet and comfortable. As far as a brand, I dont remember. LDS

I have used Leg Shield neoprene gaiters with 6" boots in tall cover to keep my lower legs dry and warm and protect laces at the tie. They are cheap and designed for bicyclists with 3 velcro tabs for adjustable closure.

I wear Kenetrek Gators. Tore up a few cheaper brands before buying the Kenetreks. They are tough as nails. Can get them in quiet material with camo colors.

Thanks guys for the info. I ordered a 3 pack of Swiss army wool gators from an outfit called "Keep Shooting" somewhere in Pa. $27.26 for a three pack. They may or may not be used, but I thought I would give them a try. Wool is quiet and that's what I'm after. Barlow

At that price, I guarantee they won't hold up for long. Been there and done that a few times trying to find a decent 'cheap' set of gators. A quality set will run you at least $60. But you'll only have to spend that once. I've had my Kenetreks and used them in the rugged high country for over 6 years now and they're still going strong. The cheaper pairs I had before didn't make it through one hunting season

I think I'd go to the fabric store with mama and pick out some quiet material. Then fit it to your leg and sew velcro on.. Could add a keeper string top and bottom..

And if you google "Gators" You get all kind sof info on swamp creatures...

Never much had use for gaitors because when I used to bird hunt, I wore briar pants. Wasn't until I started hunting deer in deep snow that I needed them. At that point I wanted nylon gaiters to repel snow and keep it from sticking. Quiet didn't matter. Then I started bowhunting late season where i needed snow repellant and quiet together. That's the tough part. I can't get quiet snow repellant gaiters. With fleece, the snow still holds on. Best part is, my hunting pant legs are dry and using gortex or dry plus gaiters, they don't soak thru. Still looking for that perfect gaiter that doesn't carry snow and is quiet and waterproof. Either way, I'll always have a good pair to keep my pants dry from the knees down.

Sorry for my spelling of the word gator, gaiter. The wool ones I ordered have a waterproof membrane of some sort under the wool, and the reviews on them were all positive. So for $27.00 for three of them I will give it a try. I'll let you know how I like them. Barlow

I agree with the comments above, and have found out the hard way as well too, you get your money's worth when buying gear.

For me personally, I have found the Kuiu and OR gaiters work perfectly for turkey, archery elk/deer/antelope, rifle big game, and predator hunting. All 4 types it's crucial to keep quiet and not to make any additional noise. I have wore out a set of KUIU and just about done this set of OR gaiters in too.

But keep in mind though, the biggest help on reducing noise is to not brush your pant cuffs together when walking.

Alot of noise I notice on gaiters is when wet snow accumulates on the material and freezes when in a stand. Only material that won't do that is nylon. Nylon is not quiet. Noise isn't my issue in the tree or on stand as much as ice build up and drying before the next hunt. I've purchased 3 sets to alternate on those type hunts. Outdoor Research in Cordurra/ Gortex and 2 pair of dry plus fleece made by Cabelas. That seemed to fix all issues.
