Left the range

I'm at a loss for words.
Like everyone has said 58 is way too young.
Don't know if many know that Donovan spent many summers following the dirt track racing circuit up here in the midwest as part of the pit crew for a few different racecar drivers.
On the few road trips we took together the subject of conversation would be either horsepower or rifle tuning.
Our conversations made the miles pass ever so quickly.
Life passes too quickly.

Rest in peace my friend.

I'm saddened to say I learned of the passing of Donovan Moran yesterday. Donovan was 58 years old (ish), and from what I understand was taken by a heart attack while up visiting his mother. He was a good friend to me, and would always enjoy visiting about whatever shooting or non shooting related things I was up to at the time. He even drove out a couple winters ago to help me set up a computer, since I'm fairly technically challenged. And in that trip, he got to experience a day out "in my world", that involved chaining up the pickup just to put up targets. Here he is below just "getting a feel" for what he's seen in countless photos through the years.

I don't have a lot of details on what led to his passing. I know he was attempting to quit smoking, and missed some warning signs thinking they were anxiety possibly. Rest in peace my friend.

Tom
Very Sorry about the passing of Donovan. I remember many of his posts on here.
May he rest in Peace

I enjoyed the times Donovan was at deep creek with our shooting family.
He had the gift of making you feel like a long time friend in only a few conversations. He was good people and I will miss him. Just like many others have said, he was too young....God bless.

Thank You everyone for your kind words towards Donovan and his family. I am Donovan's nephew Clint Dunwoody. I have had the privilege to meet a few of Donovan's friends in the shooting community and had been looking forward to meeting more this coming summer as I was making plans to finally get to shoot in Missoula with Donovan and possibly at Williamsport at the World Open.

Even though I have not met many of you, Donovan talked to me daily about friends all over the country that he either helped, competed against and looked up to. Through Donovan many of you have worked on something for me, sold me a component or even helped me shoot at the range. I have been blessed to have Donovan to help me get to where I am with shooting and very blessed that you have all been a friend to him as well. Donovan's life in the past years has totally revolved around long range shooting and coming up with ideas and ways to improve at the loading bench and the range. His innovations, ideas and friendship will be missed by many.

Even though Donovan has a family at home that is grieving, please be assured that they understand there are many other family members in the shooting world that are grieving as well.

If anyone is planning to attend services and you need anything please reach out to me and I would be glad to help with a place to stay for you, a place to eat or anything you may need. You can reach out to me on here, through face book or email me at clintdunwoody@gmail.com if you need any information or help with accommodations.

Thank You
