Lee Sizing/DeCapping rods breaking

I don't know what's going on but so far this week I've broken the decapping rod on my 9mm die and my 223 die. On the 9mm I was using my Hornady AP and on the 223 I was using the Lee Classic plus when it broke it had already pushed the primer out but broke afterwards with the primer still stuck on it so it wasn't because it was misaligned. I wasn't going fast as I have no need to make a 1000 rounds a minute and I am always careful that everything is lined up correctly so I'm wondering what's going on here. I know they have a lifetime warranty and replace them for free but then I have to wait for them to get here.
Anyone else having this problem with their Lee Size/Decap dies?

Check for Berdan Primed cases, that is the usual cause.

I can't tell what they are by the head stamp, maybe someone would know. I don't remember what the brand name of the ammo was on these but apparently I shot a whole box of 20 of them because that's how many cases I have. Here's a pic of the stamp.

Are those primers crimped in place?

Berdan = two or more flash holes where none are going to be centrally located so they not gonna get punched out using tools for Boxer primed stuff without destruction.

They are crimped but I've never had problems with other brands that had crimped primers. I can't get a picture of it but I did look down there and there is only 1 flash hole and it is centered.

Unless someone has an idea, I'm just going to toss these, I have plenty to work with without going through the problem with these cases.

IK headstamp = IK Igman Zavod - Konjic, Bosnia, boxer primed and the primers are crimped. You need a universal decapping die that has heavy duty rod and pin.

Your problem is simple, your dies have Chevy decapping pins and you need Ford truck tough decapping pins for heavy loads. ;D

I remove all my crimped primer with the Lyman die below and it has never let me down because its built Ford truck tough.

It has nothing to do with the strength of the decapping die, although the Lee would be one of the best. It has to do with brass with an under sized flash hole known to be associated with IK brass. The Lee should still work unless it was slightly bent pin which case you will have the problem you are seeing.

Bought Lee for that reason i.e. effing tuff but you should load the deprime and gently pop it.Some of those mil brass are very well glued in.

For what it's worth , I've a Lee de-capping die here that has literally done countless rounds and I've yet to have to change out a pin (knock on wood lol) furthermore the pin has been turned down to .045" so I am able to use it on my small flash hole stuff.

Having said that I don't shoot anything with a crimped type primer either.

I think I know what may have happened to break the pin. I was going up real slow and watching to see if the plate advanced correctly and the case was tipped by the spring and moved almost half way out of the holder. But if that was the case then wouldn't it hit the die and stop right there? I think from now on I'm going to do all my decapping on the Lee Classic press with a universal decapper. I've done thousands of cases with it and not one problem.

Tell this to the people who broke the pin on American made brass, the crimp controls how hard the primer is to remove and the flash hole size has to meet NATO specs.

I have never had a problem with IK brass or any brass for that matter and the flash hole size, meaning your theory has a big hole in it. :

There's something different with the IK brass because after I broke the first pin, I replaced it and on the next IK case I started and had to stop because it felt like it would break also. My solution....I tossed them into the scrap bin. ;D
