Lee Modern Reloading second edition

I am purchasing a intire setup from lee to reload shells for my .308. The kit i am buying is the anniversary edition press kit and i was wondering since i am new should i purchase the "Modern Reloading Second Edition" By Richard Lee, and if it is a good book to teach me what i need to know on reloading?

Hi Sleepy:

Welcome to reloading. There's a lot to learn, but you will enjoy it. The Lee Anniversary Kit is as good a starting point as any because reloading takes on "personal" likes and dislikes as you travel up the learning curve. The price is reasonable, the equipment is excellent and it's a good learning platform. I'm a sometime benchrest shooter these days and I still use some of my original Lee equipment. The Lee Collet Die is the best idea in reloading in my opinion.

The Lee book is also excellent. It has lots of valuable info and can be used for reference for years. Just about any of the reloading manuals, regardless of age, will have good info for you.

My advice is to pay attention to details, do not allow carelessness to enter into your reloading activity and, even with a factory rifle, you will load better ammo, save money, and have fun doing it. That's called a "win-win" situation. Don't be afraid to ask questions and temper the answers you will get with a dose of logic, common sense and your own ability to pay for "extras" and you are going to have a great time.

I've reloaded since the late '60s and still consider it just about as much enjoyment as shooting. Good luck ...
