Hello, from San Diego

I've loaded a lot of pistol/rifle loads using the right dipper and checking on a beam. 38 in 357 I don't bother checking plinking rounds, +,- 0.1 gr is gtg.

I think a key first question is: What is your accuracy goal/need?
With a Henry Big Boy, I'm thinking it may be more about hitting targets than getting tiny groups [like 1/2 MOA or less]. If so, an RCBS/Hornady/Lyman digital scale would be fine. You're just looking for something that is accurate to a 1/10 grain. Any of these would be great for handgun reloading.

Received some new supplies today, not everything I ordered.
Ah ok, wasn't sure if they'd expanded somewhat. Are you looking for longer distance, or just pistol ranges?
In the future I would like to challenge myself to shooting longer distances. I also enjoy shooting outdoors more than feeling confined inside.

You're always welcome to check out the 3x300 prone match at South Bay: 3rd Saturday of every month (next one is Oct. 18th); setup at 0700, first rounds at 0800 (or so).

And if you're going to be out towards Yuma anyway, the IVRPA range might be worth a look too.

I dialed it in yesterday. Fill it up and did some throws to get the powder settled, and then did 5 more throws at the max setting. I weighted each max throw with my Lyman 500 and Hornady electronic scale and came out to an average of 63.55 Gr. So then I turned the adjustment screw to the first line (minimum) and ended up with 6.355 Gr., 6.356 Gr., 6.355 Gr., 6.354 Gr. & 6.355 Gr. with an overall average of 6.355 Gr.

Thanks, I have been out to a few ranges in yuma, I don't remember which ones, I have a friend who worked for border patrol and we would go out shooting once in a while. I think one was a law enforcement only range and the other was by kinter and the gila river somewhere. I mostly shoot at my gold claim around the sugarloaf area.

Oh gotcha. That's a lot further from Yuma than I expected -- closer to Phoenix and Tuscon than Yuma, if I'm reading the map right.

Well it looks like I have just about everything in to start reloading. I am waiting on a few more powders and some bullets. I also have a frankford arsenal tumbler (not in picture) that I has already cleaned some of my once shot brass.
