Lead times on custom builds

Dusty. Dwight is done building rifles. He sold his lathe to Bob Scarborough.

Dwight has built some fantastic rifles and chambered some awesome barrels.
Sorry to see him retire but my wife and I wish him well for the future.

This is the reason I got into pre-fits. My son is almost a gunsmith so I will probably go back to fitted. Just finished a pre-fit on a Lone Peak Razor action, stock and barrel from Brad and a 2 oz. trigger from Northland. Total time six weeks.

Same. I repair expensive cars for a living. Don't care who they are, first in, first out barring waiting on parts... I can be several weeks or more backed up at times.

I completely understand quality smiths who are in demand being busy as hell. It's an embarrassment of riches. But if they take work in, it should be put in line with every one else... or don't take the work in or let the potential new client know they are on the changing bottom of a very long list...

YMMV/IMHO etc..

20 years ago my wait on a new build was pushing a year, a barrel took 3/4 months.
