Lead in stock? Who makes it?

Does anyone make a lead incert to go in the stock, the same as the pieces of barrel that is used? Or do you just use lead shot?

ty Don.

I carefully enlarge/drill a hole in the stock. Then I will put a bit of epoxy at the bottom of the hole. Then mix some epoxy with BBs, shove the mixture into the hole, and cap it off with more epoxy. Before I use the epoxy I will put the BBs in the hole, tape it off and shoulder the rifle for feel. TAPE off all places you don't want epoxy and wear some gloves. I have done this on a 300 Win Mag and 7mm Mag and years later the BBs never came loose.

Tungsten is a better bang for the buck. Several options on eBay. Figure out how much weight you want, order a piece, drill hole and slide it in. If your stock is hollow, fill with spray foam and slide the bar into the foam before it hardens and it will make the hole in the foam for you.

Don’t plan on cutting the tungsten bar unless you know someone with a plasma cutter.

I have a long range BR rifle that I dedicated to HG. II used Tungsten round bar purchased from McMaster-Carr in the end. Initially I thought it too expensive to go that way so I found lead, melted it and poured into a piece of heavy-wall steel tubing (1" OD). It was okay but didn't add the desired amount so I bit the "tungsten bullet". After all, it only costs 200% more to go first-class these days.

You can get tungsten carbide in the form of used indexable inserts and broken cutting tools like end mills from a machine shop...for free in many cases.

I use lead wheel weights from the local garage, a short piece of old tubing or curtain rod, etc. melt the lead on an outdoor propane stove and pour it in the rod.

Left over shotgun shells?
You buy a box or 2 of some high powered shells, then at the end of the season you got a few shells left over. You cant start the next season with them and there will be a bigger, badder shell next year so you have leftover shells. Go trap shooting and skip the last stage because theres no need to waste the shells? Theres another 5
