Law abiding citizen in Ca denied ammunition

I've been watching this thread with interest. I saw years ago what was happening in CA, packed up my household and moved out of that liberal, confused state. I will not even go there for holidays any more as I cannot carry my CCW there legally. So if I cannot defend myself and family from the hoards of criminals and gang bangers there, I just won't ever go there again.

Living in Orygun, I can go into Sportsmans Whs (or any store), purchase a 1911 .45, a couple boxes of ammo, maybe some powder and primers, show my ODL and CCW, the store makes a call to the OSP, and I'm out the door with my new treasures in ten minutes.

Considering the homeless problems in CA, filth everywhere, the ridiculous traffic and the fouled air, not to mention the absolute draconian new gun-related laws, it's just not on my list of places to see ever again. There IS a way to avoid all that plagues CA......LEAVE!
Enjoy it while you can Rick in Oregon, your state is right on Commiefornias heels.

Happy 4 of July, I decided to go local gun sportsmans Wharehouse and see how many hoops and how long it takes for Ammo purchases. Long story short I was denied. I thought I had enough info for the purchasing of ammunition. I had my current ca drivers license, current hunting license, and current firearm safety certificate. They replied with I need the new real Id or a current passport or a birth certificate. Now I’m going to start the process of getting a new license. This really hurts when you can’t buy ammunition on July 4. Just a angry law abiding citizen complaining.
Should have asked an illegal immigrant to purchase it for you , get stoned first !

I think that the real ID you are talking about is a drivers license with a star on it, that makes it come up to the standards of a federal ID. I had to renew my DL and the state of FL would not accept my Birth certificate. Seems the birth certificate I have been using since I was born in 1954 was issued by a hospital not government. I had to petition the state of Tennessee and get a birth certificate from them. When I questioned a friend that works for the county he told me that government workers have been selling DLs and other documents to people that could not legally get them for so long that the records are a mess and the feds want to know who is who. So there own employees are so corrupt we have to jump through hoops to prove that we are who we have been claiming to be since birth. A few years back I went to renew my concealed carry permit and I have to have a money order or a cashiers check, seems they don't trust their own employees with cash. I would have thought in that office with at least a dozen people at least one could be trusted with cash, but no.

Well,

I just returned from the Camarillo Gun Store. While there I inquired as to what it takes to purchase ammunition. Their replay was you need a REIL ID/Driver license or a drivers license and a passport/pass card. As I was discussing this with the owner, a guy came in and purchased ammunition, the entire process from him entering the store, to him leaving with his ammunition, took less than 10 minuets.

BTW: I purchased primers.

It is a felony to bring ammo into the state, a lot has been made of bringing ammo back that you took out of state hunting then returned. If you purchase it at the shooting range it is for
"consumption on the premises" and there is no ID required....OK. Two of our three Walmarts stopped selling ammo(I buy $5 shotgun shells, .22's, and the occasional pistol ammo) when the 1st announced the new laws. Not sure if who will continue but that leaves Big 5, maybe one Walmart, and the range(3x the price) in a city of 60K people. We can still buy from the internet but it has to be sent to an ammo dealer/FFL and go thru the process, which I haven't attempted yet.
Butt, and it's a big, hairy butt, we are providing free health care to illegals, free legal aid to illegals, drivers licences to illegals(over 3 million...that's why the DMV is so backed up), and Newsome was the 1st governor to officially apologize to the native Americans for California's violent treatment of them.
Close to 90% of traffic accidents are hit and runs because illegals don't want to get a criminal record and be on ICE's radar...... California....leading the way !
Yes, when I am no longer tied here I will consider moving.

Re FREE Health Care for Illegal Aliens -- Here is One Taxpaying Citizen's Perspective:

I am a third generation California. Both my parents were school teachers who worked summers on public service second jobs. When younger I worked both for the local district attorney's office and for a year in the State Legislature. So I think I would be considered a good citizen. And in 2018 I paid over $22000 for medical stuff, including $15600 for monthly insurance premiums. My monthly medical insurance has nearly quadrupled in cost since the adoption of Obamacare (Covered CA), which is my only option as self-employed.

My medical costs are now my single largest annual personal expense.

So tell me again why NON-citizens who don't pay taxes and violate our state and Federal laws by entering the state illegally should be given FREE medical care.

Guys. Calm down. We had a block party on our cul de sac in Carlsbad today. Wore a flag t-shirt and for a red had I grabbed my MAGA hat. Others saw it and ran in and got theirs. By lunch there were half a dozen. Not a single liberal in sight to challenge us.

California has more conservatives than all states but 2, Texas and Florida. We are just outnumbered by liberals in 2 large urban areas. All large cities are liberal. NY and Chicago are just as bad as LA and SF. But put 2 in the same state and you get a critical mass.

4th of July parade in Clayton, ID. You are possibly in the wrong state of mind. :) and whats with the prop 65 on like everything? :) CA, sheesh. I don't mind people that are wildly different ( that's the beauty of the US), but don't take away the liberties expressly granted citizens. Passport to buy ammo? Really?

I'm just sitting here (buzzed) pondering; how many Califotnia conservatives will sit home this november then bitch about the election results.

If you look closely at a Prop 65 warning placard, it has a Prop 65 warning about itself, located in the lower left corner.

We are outnumbered /rural - low density vs. urban -high density / that's the reality, I think.
Voters in urban areas outnumber rural voters by a large margin; they elect legislators who mirror their thoughts (sometimes regardless of the 2A + other rights granted). If you live in a city, "you don't need a weapon.
You don't hunt. Weapons are deadly. I am not comfortable with guns - so no one should have them. We have the police to protect us." That's the reality. Or so it appears. SCOTUS - final backstop. If we still live by the rule of law, not the rule of feelings.

The gentleman that initiated this thread was rightfully frustrated with his attempt to purchase ammo. I agree its bullshit, just another hoop. I won't give up. I thought that as I was going to pick up some primers I would ask the owner what was necessary to purchase ammo. He had it all laid out and explained to me the requirements. He also added there was, as expected, some considerable growing pains with the new regulation. while there, I witnessed a quick seamless ammo purchase. I fly often, the REIL drivers licensee will be a necessity in the near future. I started the process a while ago but got sidetracked, I will resume the process this week. First I needed TSA Pre-Checked, now I need REIL ID. Don'y know if I will have the strength to purchase ammo and fly the same day. It just never ends.

The answer is quite simple. It's because the majority of duly elected officials SAY that illegals should receive receive free medical care. Although I doubt the founders ever envisioned the kind of super-majority held by a single party in Kalifornia, it is nonetheless how our system of government works.

Other than the elected officials, who are basically insane, there are two main groups of people in Kalifornia. Either you voted these kinds of officials into office and you agree with [most] of what they do, or you're in the unfortunate minority of people whose votes simply don't count because you are are outnumbered by at least 2 or 3 to 1. It's one or the other. So much for a representative government. If you aren't a supporter the party that runs the show in Kalifornia, you effectively have no representation at all because the majority of elected officials will have a political viewpoint that is diametrically opposed to yours.

I lived in Kalifornia for many years. Finally, I couldn't stand it any longer and left. I am not sorry. Regardless of the Eagles' song claims to the contrary, I both checked out AND I left...permanently. I won't go back because there is simply no legal way to fix Kalifornia's problems. There will never be sufficient conservative votes to get any meaningful legislation passed.

Possibly something in the packaging.

Needed a sump pump for one of our rentals in South Dakota. Wife wants to buy it it from Menard's and have the plumber pick it up. She calls to order it (she is in CA at the time) but due to prop 65, they cant sell it to us because the credit card billing address is in CA.
