Law abiding citizen in Ca denied ammunition

I live in CA (unfortunately), and believe it will not be long before acquiring reloading supplies will go the route of current firearm and ammo regulations. Meaning transfer must happen at a FFL. I went to my local dealer and asked about components for 6mmBR, such as Lapua brass. The counter person's response? "What is a 6mmBR"? They seemed little interested in receiving an order from a mail order firm and transferring it to me. If the current ammo regulations are applied to reloading supplies, I expect CA shooters may have a hell of time getting what they need. Since Governor Newsom was the author of the proposition that imposed the latest round of restrictions, I doubt any crazy new regulations the legislature comes up with will be vetoed by Newsom. At least the previous Governor Brown did own some guns and did veto some of the nuttier bills put before him.

Before anyone says, "MOVE!", we are looking right now and prepping this house to sell. It is difficult to move away from kids, grandkids, family, and friends, and my wife does not want to do this just for gun regulations, but there is enough else wrong in CA to drive me out, even if I never held a gun again.

Phil

I understand your pain Phil3. We went through the same angst - the decision to leave friends, grandkids, elderly parents - but felt we had little choice if we wanted to exercise any of our Rights (speech, assembly, RKBA). We didn't do it just because of gun regulations (although my wife hated seeing what was happening as much as me), but as you note, there is enough else wrong in CA that drove us out. We relocated last year to Central Texas near our grandson and couldn't be happier with the decision. Austin airport is about 1 hour away at the right time of the day, and Southwest flies frequently enough that getting to CA is not difficult for a visit. I should add that both my wife and I are self-employed and work from home which made things easier.

I’m just passing through. I think this is the first time someone’s got the Forum Boss talking in a politics thread!! ;)

On a serious note. What’s the big deal about ID? In Georgia we show one of the following.

  • Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free ID Card issued by your county registrar's office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)
  • A Georgia Driver's License, even if expired
  • Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
  • Valid U.S. passport ID
  • Valid U.S. military photo ID
  • Valid tribal photo ID
What’s the big deal? It takes two seconds. It protects the election from outside influence, which liberals seem to complain about a lot recently.

Are there any “preppers” in Cali? With all the nut-jobs out there, I’d assume there are a lot of them. What are they up to? Have they all moved out? Gone off the radar? I watched a tv show about the “movement”. They were all stocked up with 30 round mags and ammo and such, buying property up in the hills.
Just wondering.

Most of the real "nut jobs" have move to states like Delaware a long time ago. The rest of us non nut jobs, are still resisting the force, every hour, every day.

California:
more hunters than any other state
more firearms sales than any other state
more fishermen than any other state
I have access to more shooting clubs, public and private ranges here than any other state I have visited or lived in.

I see many red states threatened and turning blue, the pussies, they should apply all the offered solutions to their state first, let us know how it works out for you.

I work in the marine industry. One of the companies we buy from will no longer ship to California due to Prop 65 even though some of the merchandise (most probably) has Prop 65 labeling from the manufacturer. I wish enough companies would refuse to ship to CA due to the Prop 65 as to cause a shortage.

REIL ID to purchase ammo? Here in AL we just take the box to the counter and pay for it. The only time we are asked for an ID is if we pay by check.

Joe, what would be your recommended process to revolt in CA? Who do you think would revolt?
Ben
They do need excessive violence to take back their state. As to who will do it? Easy answer to that question. No one will as it would require taking too much time off work. Work is the word as elected officials do not work nor does most of the left. Well the loud ones anyway.

I have no clue about what to do about California, but leaving would rate pretty low on my list of options. I know you are far out numbered there, but maybe it is time to stand up and fight. Don't ask me how. I see California as sad model for the rest of the country, over the next few years. The sad state of affairs in California, deeply saddens me, but if not for the whole sale corruption, I would except it.

I guess no one got my Wolverine reference. If he was holding a bench rest rifle instead of an AK people would have noticed ;)
I got it. I just couldn’t remember which one it was from. I thought the original but then I couldn’t remember details of the remake.
