Lapua Scenar L 105 gr. 6mm

There's precisely eight US shooters who've tried these so far, several of whom are frequent contributors to these threads. They were our beta testers for the first batch that entered the country a few weeks back, and got virtually all of what we've imported up to now. Nothing else in country so far, but these will be formally unveiled at the SHOT show in a few weeks, and should be coming in through our usual suppliers after that.

Let's hope Lapua has the marketing savvy to send a few samples to Brian Litz for testing & inclusion in his A.B.L.R.S. 2nd edition... even if he DOES work for the competition! At least they're now recognizing the value of a G7 BC.

Kevin, do you have any dimensional data to give us more details over what the product PDF provides?

(Kevin's confirmed my conjecture; same thing applies to their new .260 REM brass, to be introduced at 2011 SHOT show in a couple of weeks.)

Yes, so far they have shot great with groups in the .1's at 100 and in the .3's at 200 yards. I will test them in two weeks at the monthly 600 yard match. They look very promising so far. I will have a detailed evaluation then!

I measured and weighed them, they are very consistent, no need to do any kind of sorting with the Lapua-L, just load out of the box and go win some matches! ;D

Hi guys

is the bc lower on these then the originals? showing @ .472 I thougt they were over .5 & were the next bullet to try on my list?

cheers Andy

Sounds great on these new "L" 105's, I love the regular 105 Lapua's, will definately have to buy a quantity of these. I have sorted the old 105 Lapuas for matches, and they are already very consistant by weight and bearing surface. This is good news! :)

How does the "tip " look? any meplat uniforming required? Tha twas what impressed me on the newer(2nd gen) 115 DTAC was that Sierra really got the point down tiny...havent seen a need for uniforming on the 1500 batch I got.

The "tips" look really good, I looked at them with a 30X Loupe and they are very uniform, no ragged edges or anything. So no meplat trimming required in my opinion. Overall a very nice and consistent bullet.

Hey guys,
no, there's no design change here, just a refinement of tolerances. Basically the same bullet as the original 105 Scenar, just run to tighter tolerances in all aspects; weight, concentricity, the whole deal. Erik's one of our testers, but there are a few others one these pages as well. German has shot them too, but I'll let him make his own comments, should he choose to do so. The 105 is the first bullet to receive this whole product improvement process, but if it meets with our expectations, you'll see these same improvments spread theoughout the entire Scenar line.

Be sure to keep you posted as I hear more, and always appreciate your feedback!

Hi kevin have any off the new ones reached australia yet,if so how can you tell the difference between old ones to new ones ? thanks jack

Jack,

Good question about the ID, and one I should have mentioned. The new Scenar Ls will be outwardly identical to the older Scenars in terms of dimensions, ogives, BT lengths and angles. The sole identifier between the two is that the new Scenar L's will bear a small "L" on the base of the bullet.

On the second part of your question, I'm afraid I don't know anything about that. We're the US sales rep office, and Australia (obviously) is not a part of our marketing area. I'd suggest that you contact our Australian importer, and they should be able to help you with this info. They are;

D.W. Custer Pty Ltd.
Rear Left Building
406 Bilsen Road
AU-4034 Geebung QLD
Tel. +61 7 3865 6900
www.custer.com.au

Hope this helps, but I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can about anything else.

Kevin...can we start a "forum first" selling of the Bullet here in the USA? (Hey MR. Mod here is a good incentive for site contributors) !!!

If you dont ever ask.....well then answer is definetely No!

Nice try, but over my pay grade! Hey, at the very least, I'll be happy to let you know what their status is, and when the arrive. After that, the usual suspects apply; Graf's, Sinclair Intl., Midway, etc..

That would be cool, please keep us posted as to arrival.

Steve,

unfortunately, there will be a markup on the new Scenar Ls, but we'll continue to offer the original Scenars as well. There's just more that goes into them, and not surpringly the production costs are higher. No impact on the price of the originals, as they didn't become any cheaper to make just because of the introduction of the new L bullets.

Hope that helps.

The Lapua Scenar L 105 gr. 6mm bullets are very consistent right out of the box. Measured them for wt. , bearing surface length and it was not worth the time to sort. Pull them out of the box and shoot.

Shot them in my 6mm BRX at a 4X600 yd match. Won the match and had the highest X count ever.

They are a great 600 yd bullet. You won't be disappointed with them. Oh, I did shoot them naked and I usually shoot a coated bullet. I was driving them at 3020 fps. and they seem to really like that vel range.

Lapua 6 BR brass and bullets, there were a definite winner for me.
