Lapua Primer Pocket Tension??

After shooting a reduced load and the primers look exactly the same I'm wondering now if I'm just making a big deal over nothing and maybe the Lapua brass itself is just a little soft. On top of which not all the primer pockets are loosening up.

It just happens. We all hate to loose brass. My 308 seems to go thru it faster than some of my other rifles

How often are you having to trim to length?

I think my chamber is a little on the big side in the base area. I think that is my issue. Swapping to the small primer brass has helped me. Along with making sure I'm not over sizing my brass. I'm now on 8 th loading of the Palma small primer brass. Large primer brass in this gun usually had to loose of a pocket by loading number 5
This is my experience only

Most likely. Tell you what, take the cases that are loose already, and go up .3 until you get a really flat primer. It will look like it was poured in as a liquid... liquid. It's real obvious. I would not worry at all about those you have especially being the federal. You got a good node, should be around 2650 fps, +/- 50 or so. If it was me, I would probably throat it anyway, open it up to more possibilities, and it will still shoot good. I have one set up for a Berger 185 at 2.950 COAL, jumping .010... Shoots great. Also shoots 175's at 2.820 just as well. They can take a jump. In the M700 5R factory barrel, the bullet will fall out of the case before it jams lands... Still shoots 1/3 consistently. If it works it works. But your last post is probably dead on. Sorry we all sorta dragged you down a rabbit hole. As much info as possible up front helps. Somewhere I have a box with some gems I found at the ranges over the years, ill post up a pic or two of what you don't want to see... ;)

And also to note, I have had up to 20 out of 100 lapua 223 brass have loose pockets after the first firing, while the rest are still going after 4 fairly stout loads with no change.. Happens.

I've only had to trim once and that was on the 5th or 6th load and even then it was only maybe 20 percent of the cases.

I REALLY appreciate ALL the insight and help. That's why I'm here, to learn.

Well your not over sizing them for sure. That was part of my problem that led to brass web issues
