Lapua does not drill their flash holes

i think most do not understand how precise a "punched" hole can be.
lots of parts are made by forms of punching and come out precise.
some times based on the material they are tumble deburred
i have bee quite pleased with the brass i buy from lapua.
the "burr" on a lapua flash hole vs at debris on a winchester flash hole,
id night and day difference.

As Hillary Ramrod Clinton once said, "At this point, what difference does it make?"
Just picked up one of lapuas reloading books. It was pricy but has a lot of good info in it. They dedicated one chapter to how they make brass. In it they clearly state that they punch them. Its laughable that these rumors get started by arm chair know it alls.

A lot cheaper to punch. Drilling brass with HSS drills requires specially ground cutting edges to prevent the drill bit from being pulled in to the material. That and you're looking at drill motors running expensive carbide bits in the neighborhood of 5000 rpm.

People think they're drilled because they look drilled when compared to domestic brass, which will typically have a huge burr - about as big as the hole. Lapua somehow manages to put the hole there without leaving a massive chuck of brass on the inside edge.

So I have no idea why every one says that Lapua drills their flash holes rather than punching them. I would actually like to know why. I listened to the episode where Kevin Thomas for Lapua USA was interviewed on this podcast, Ep8 and in it he clearly stated that they tried drilling flash holes but went back to stamping them. IN short Lapua does not drill their flash holes. They stamp them out with a punch. He talks about it 23min into the podcast episode 8.

If this is a hot topic please try to keep it civil.
I guess I’ll have to take my borescope and start inspecting the inside of my flash holes to check up on the condition of the newer brass

I feel like i was listening to a tattletale or something. Ive never heard of a flash hole being drilled by anybody in the know. Can you imagine the production cost on that?

It is of my opinion that Helen Keller was more courageous and strong the most all of us I could not have done near what she did with those limitations and find her name used in this post disrespectful and I don’t even live in Alabama
