Lapua Dasher brass?????

D2x shooter

Gold $$ Contributor
Does anyone have a connection to Lapua to query about factory 6mm Dasher brass?
It seems loads of people are shooting the Dasher. It would be nice if we could contact Lapua on making a run of Dasher brass.

I believe Shiraz (Bullets .com) is working with a manufacturer to get Dasher brass made..

Just my opinion, but I would not hold your breath on Dasher brass coming. My understanding is that making brass with a 40Ëšshoulder angle typically results in manufacturing difficulties and a fair amount of rejects and that's why you don't see 40Ëšshoulder brass on the market (except for esoteric niche brass that is real expensive). It would be a real surprise to me if Dasher brass comes to market, and if it does, you probably will likely find it pricey enough that you will quietly go back to fire forming 6BR brass.

IF my memory serves me correctly he is working with Norma, not Lapua........

From a liability standpoint, and because there is no "standardization" in chamber specs regarding what is out there, I'd be surprised to see it happen. Norma, Silver State, Sako etc. made 6PPC brass specifically for a chamber that was made by and for a factory cartridge - the 6PPC-USA. In the absence of a "factory cartridge" made for a factory spec'ed gun, the brass would best be headstamped "alter to custom chambers". We would all pay the higher price from lawsuits because somebody used straight out of the box in a tight neck gun or the brass would have to be made thin as paper to ensure it would fire safely in all chambers - but would have short life. One can bet that any brass brought to market will still need to be worked over somehow - or new barrels bought to accomodate the "official" version of the chamber for a true no-turn neck, etc.. Given that, I think it makes little difference to a lot of folks, barring those whom don't reload.

Makes ya wonder how Nosler decided on the specs for their 280 AI brass with all the various spec'd chambers/reamers out there.

I think you will find that Norma make Nosler Brass……….. jim

The issue would become an initial order of 250,000-500,000 cases to generate interest, someone has to come up with the money in advance.

We went through this in the 1985 or so when Sako stopped sending their 220 Russian cases into the country.

The 280 Ackley Improved was made official by SAAMI before Nosler produced brass for it. It's no longer a wildcat, it's a SAAMI round with defined specs. If you use Nosler brass in a non-SAAMI spec chamber then you assume the liability.

I emailed Bullets.com regarding the Dasher brass and was advised that it is in the works and would be available in March 2015 and would be Norma. No pricing was given.
