Lapua brass 22-250 fire form to 6XC

Anybody use the Lapua brass sent through the die then fire formed to 6xc?

Or how about the Nosler custom 22-250 brass for the same thing.

Seems after all my purchase of the Norma brass in 6xc it's a bit soft for my liking so I'm want to switch to a quality brass of either Lapua or the Nosler.

I don't know the reputation of the Nosler brass but I shoot Lapua in my other rifles .

Thanks.

Patrick

The only issue you will likely find when you fireform it to 6xc is the nasty doughnut that shows up at base of the neck. You can either ream it out or load your bullets above it. I chose to load above it and have had my bbls set up accordingly. I dont have the time or the patience to ream all the necks. With little bullets, its irrelevant, but with the 105 and up class, you gotta load them out or they get into the nut and that causes all sorts of wierd stuff.

Mudcat is right about the donut. It is a bear. Winchester brass will fireform well and will not give you the donut.

Yup and exactly why the majority of my 6xc brass is Win marked! Good stuff to and half the price of Lapua. I only use the Lapua for LR.

Nothing wrong with the Norma brass, It's all I am shooting now. But I would like to experiment with some good quality Lapua or other brass. I want consistent brass that can take a little bit stouter load than the Norma for long range.

I will probably try some Lapua 22-250 and see how it does. The Norma bass is giving me doughnuts right now anyway using full length sizing dies that are honed out in the neck to .267.

What's wrong with just buying Norma 6XC brass?
Regards JCS

Me and some other locals just cant seem to get it working well where we dont get pressure and that doesnt work when you shoot XTC and need to run a smooth bolt in rapid fire. Add in a Schneider bbl and all heck breaks loose too often. I just dont bother...oh, and the cost. Win works just fine for me....got some with over 20 firings on it.

For the money I just didnt feel it was worth paying for...the things they advertise to be done i felt was a sloppy job...yea mine were weight sorted....to the closest 1/2 pound...they werent even close to each other...the case length varied by .006" and the flash holes were off center on 1 out of 80....Id just personaly buy lapua and do all that stuff they over charge you for, by myself.

I run mine in a lot of lost brass matches so fire-formed Win brass for me. It is easy and a heck of a lot cheaper than the other brass out there. It fireforms well and works great. Fireforming loads are also very accurate.
