Lapua 6BR Neck Wall Thickness?

G'day All,

Can someone with a tube micrometer please measure the neck wall thickness on some new Blue Box
Lapua 6BR brass for me? :)

cheers,
Chris

.012-.0125

BUT the best advice is to get some and measure it yourself....

I turn all of mine to .012 just to make sure..

Phil.

Not to beat a dead horse, but like the others have said, .012 on the new Lapua blue box brass which simply means is that I no longer have to turn my 6mm brass as the brown box Lapua was at like .014. I suspect Charlie's chamber is a custom rig hence he turns his brass to match his chamber which is something a general production one most likely won't need.

Kicking this zombie thread just because I had a moment of panic after ordering a 272 "no turn" neck in a 6 BRA. Was out turning my lapua 6 creed necks only to realize that they'e starting at .0148-ish and I'm turning them down to .0140. that adds up to a .2710 leaded round which is too tight for a .272 neck (and thats after turning)

sigh of relief to know that the 6br brass (on order) starts closer to .012 -> which is a .267 neck without turning. I'll probably still skim them all to .0115 or something however.

The necks have been varying so much on Lapua brass lately that I'm turning everything. Not so much to reduce the neck thickness, but to get consistent neck thickness.
Out of the hundreds of cases that I have checked for neck wall thickness I never have found one single case that ever had the exact same thickness all the way around whether it be a 6BR, 220 Russian, 6.5 Grendel or a 6.5x47 case. I have asked many of my fellow competitors the same question and every single one said the same thing that I am saying.

Just opened a new set of three boxes and checked over a Berger 108, and also with a thickness micrometer, this batch is running 0.013 thick.

I just measured my brass it's .0129 to .0130 shooting that in my 6 br.

i’m in the process of turning my way through 500 currently. very few starting at 13, but some. most are 12.2-12.8 as i spot check every few before and after to make sure nothing is changing

shooting for 12.0 on the turn gets me 99% of necks on 99% of cases so far.

Last 3 blue boxes of 6mmBR Lapua brass I purchased was measuring .013 to .0135 before slight clean up turn. After clean up and removing only the high spots I'm still getting real close to .013. The two chambers of my 6mmBR s are .271 and .272

I shoot a .269 neck, and turn them to .012. Some still have a tad of shadow.

this was bought in February.
