Lapua 223 rem brass

I have a couple new 223 Remington Projects to start working with shortly. Waiting on Anti-Cant Devices that are on order.
After doing some research, I ordered 200 Starline 556 cases from Midway. I am not sure if I could tell any difference between Starline 556 and Lapua Brass from my research. I am 100% sure that they will work just fine in my application, which is not Bench Rest.

I found Starline 223 brass to be just fine but it has less internal capacity than Lapua, GFL, and PMC
It has checked less than all other 223 brass I have loaded

For Starline's 223 brass that i got three years ago, capacity is right at 30 grains.

Haven't measured their 556 brass.

Hello Kevin!
Very good news.... !
Our Lapua .223 Rem. Cartridges Cases will resume production next month and be available at your favorite Lapua retailer in late Feb. or March.
Thanks for your patience!

Jack, can you share any info of when 22-250 brass will resume production?
Thanks

Starline 223 and 556 are WAY different animals. 223 has WAY less capacity and is much softer. Lapua loads in starline 223 brass will be “one shot” brass. Lapua loads are almost interchangeable with Starline 556 brass.

I've not bought any Starline brass yet. I find that interesting that the .223 brass has less capacity than the .556. I'd have thought the .556, being stouter brass, would be thicker - and less capacity?

I have found that getting just about any brass from any manufacturer can shoot pretty decently if a great deal of brass prep is performed, such as reaming the flash holes, turning the necks, etc.. Most won't last nearly as long as Lapua, but will hang in there for a while is excessive pressures aren't used. Usually, the pockets go first. It doesn't seem that long ago we could buy Lapua .223 for about $55.00 per box. I guess those days are history.

I think there must be differences in the alloys used from cartridge to cartridge and mfg to mfg.

I've only got 4 loads (probably warm) on some 243 starline and about 10% have loose enough pockets that I'm wondering if I'll have leakers on the next round.
