Lapua 185gr Match with a .309 diam.?

I just took in 300 185gr Lapua Match hard ball bullets that say .309 on the box. They have a BC of .547 and I was wanting to try them out but was concerned by the .309 diameter.

Are all of Lapuas bullets in 30cal .309 or is this something special?? Can I shoot them in my 308??,Has a Pac Nor super match barrel) thanks guys!!

These were made in both .308" and .309" diameters. The larger ones were for bores with greater windage than would have delivered accurate performance with the .308" bullet.

Reduce the load appropriately, and you should be fine.

PS. Don't believe the BC values. They might be close, within 10 to 15%), but not exact.

Asa_Yam,
Thank you for the reply. How much should I reduce my load?? Would a grain be enough???Thanks again!!

I shoot them all the time and have pressure tested them in my 30-06. There is no particular increase in pressure attributable to these bullets, you can shoot them just like a 190 Sierra for starters. In my testing, I find max pressure about 1 grain higher with the Lapua D46 than with Sierra 190. The D46 is an industrial strength match bullet, very accurate and a good BC, better than the Sierra 190.

Thanks so much for your replys!!! I really appreciate the help I get on here from all you guys, its a great sight with a wealth of knowlege and great people!!
