Lapua 136 Scenar L opinions??

I have not tried them myself. However, a good friend of mine uses them in his 6.5 x 47 and they shoot mighty well indeed! You will find that with all Scenars, especially the "L's", that they are made with exceedingly tight tolerances, right with JLK's!

I have shot some at 100 and 200 yards. Maybe 50 total. They group well and got an extra 30~ish fps with Vargethe over a 142 and about 50fps over a 140BH (I'm going to look that back up so don't hold me to that yet)

I ended up going with the 142s because they are already pointed, shot as well as 140s at 100 and 1000 and had 30fps extra MV with the samextra charge.

That said, looking at these 136s, they appear to be ready to point out of the box. They have a huge meplant and they do seem to be very uniform. I would bet pointed, these will run with anything heavier currently out there that's not a machined solid.

I have personally tried them in two different 6.5x47's and a 6.5 Creedmoor, and with all three rifles, the 139 lapua did better in all three. JMHO.

Tony.

I ran them in a 6.5x47. They performed very well, they were not fussy about seating depth and provided similar accuracy to Berger 130VLDs, just more expensive.

I bought a box of 1k when they first came out for $300. They are probably the most uniform bullet I've ever shot. They shot as good as anything else I threw down that barrel. My freebore was a little short and my load was compressed and I didn't like that so I went to a vld.

I've been thinking about trying them as well. I have an 8.5 twist on my 6.5x47. Will the 136 be stable out to 1,000 with that combo?

Has anyone tried these and have an opinion on their performance vs. Bergers or ???
Thanks
I made a 129 gr 6.5 with a small HP out of one of my dies which has a similar ogive to the Lapua. Shot it in my 260 Rem and it consistently grouped extremely well.
I made a 141 gr. in the same die on a longer jacket and it also shot very well out of my friend's magnum at a thousand yds. It seems to be very seating depth friendly as the Lapua.

Made a 146 gr in the same die for a friend of mine who wanted to try them on steel rams at 500 meters. He reported that every ram he hit with that bullet went down. So the Lapua ogive shape must be just right.

There's just so many higher bc bullets out there at better pricing. It is a good bullet, shot 3500+ out of a 6.5x47, used .570 for bc and it worked.
GO FOR WHAT GIVES YOU THE BEST ACCURACY NOT THE LOWEST PRICE. WHAT HAVE WE GAINED BY USING A BULLET WITH A BETTER BC AT A LOWER PRICE, BUT IT GIVES US BIGGER GROUPS?
HOWEVER, IF YOU FIND A BULLET THAT GIVES YOU ALL OF THE ABOVE, GO FOR IT.

WHEN I SHOT NRA HIGH-POWER, A FEW SHOOTERS WOULD SPEND BIG BUCKS TO HAVE A 1/4 MINUTE RIFLE BUILT, AND THEN SHOW UP AT A MATCH WITH BALL AMMUNITION OR HAND LOADED AMMO WITH BALL BULLETS AND BLAME THE RIFLE FOR THEIR POOR SCORES.

In my case, I wasn't paying 48 a box for more even though the rifle was still shooting. I rebarreled to 6.5slr and just took possession of it this am. Going to shoot it here in a bit with 140 eld m's at 30 a box.

I've been shooting them in a 6.5x47L. I like them a lot. However the price has gone up quite a bit. I'm almost out of them, but not sure if I want to pay the higher price. I'm shooting a 600yd match tomorrow. If they perform well, then I might buy more.

I paid $36 a box last year, which made them competitive. If they are more than 142s and 140s Lapua might just as well discontinue the bullets.

Edit: just checked Brunos. $39.14 for scenar L and a bit over $33 for 142SMKs.
