laminated stock repair

Had a Laminated stock donated for a junior, the stock forearm was shortened at one time. The piece was retained, so I would Like to place it back on for a Fclass stock, then paint over the repair.

What type of epoxy would be best to repair/glue the piece back on?

Thank you.

Hit a hardware store for some Devcon epoxy, slow cure. The side by side syringe type. The dowels are the critical part. I tried a "quick" hand rail install in my house. 2"x2 1/2" oak. Just epoxied it together. Butt joints, no biscuits or dowels. It fell apart after about 8 years. Good luck, Josh.

One last tidbit. When using epoxy, use very light clamping pressure, if any. You don't want to squeeze the epoxy out of the joint. Tight clamping is for white/yellow wood glue.

Acraglas will work too. There will be a lot of pressure on the front of the dowelled forend because of the weight of a F-class rifle. I would suggest that after dowelling go back and machine a pocket about 1/2 by 1 wide and 6 inches long in the barrel channel and glue in a strip of wood to help support the weight of the barrel. End grain is notoriously hard to glue, especially if it's butted together, so the extra piece in the barrel channel will be a great help.

good point, been thinking about it, considered doing some screwed in rails from the side, but your idea is better. Thanks you for the help.
