Ladder Test

Shooting 28Nos 195 EOL with Retumbo .04 off the lands. I talked with Berger and got their starting load. I jumped up a little bit from their starting load and went above their max by .6 and never saw pressure signs. My starting charge was 76.3 and went up .3 until 78.8. Let me know what you guys think and where I should consintrate my load. I’m kinda puzzled as to why some of the higher charge weights were lower. Is that normal? Total height spread was 2.25 inch so I guess that’s good (maybe). First time I’ve done a ladder test. The barrel had 40rds of factory ammo before I did the test

78.5 thru 78.8 is what stands out.
I'd go a tenth above and below loading
78.4,.5,.6,.7,.8,.9
Reshoot 3 of each either in OCW or ladder.
But that's me, and what do I know?

As loads change so do harmonics Bullets can go any direction.
I like 78.5-78.8 try again with a wind flag to confirm , then a seating test

Second on the 78 node, but also 76.6-76.9 could be hiding something, so if you don't need max velo, why burn more powder? I'd go .2gn increments from 76.- to 77.- and 78.- to 78.8 and shoot again.

2.5 grain spread might not be enough in a case that takes 80+gr of powder.

In magnums I load in 0.5 gr increments.

When shooting ladders, I prefer shooting it at least 2 times back to back. This way you can correlate and verify the results.

78.5 and 78.8 is probably the start of a node.

85.6: .51 MOA
86: .58 MOA
86.4: .53 MOA

What’s your expert opinions on where I should narrow my load.

No expert....
Lower left group says 84.5 .
85.6 gr says adjust seating depth.
