Labradar problem

Wondering if anyone has a problem with it? I bought it very soon after getting the labradar.
I have had some problems not recording shots. I feel that the plug from the trigger is very loose and sloppy going into in the labradar. I have the unit aligned with the target, but 1/2 shots are not recorded

There is no phone# on jlk’s website, so I had to fill out the form and submit it asking for a call back. Hope someone will.

Tried calling labradar and got some foreign speaking computer answering voice, so left a message for them to call me also.

Anyone know of a better external trigger?

How long have you had the JLK trigger?

I have a Labradar and have been using the JLK trigger for two years. Very rarely do I miss a shot. When I do it's because of aiming the unit or I don't have the unit the correct distance from the barrel.

So far I haven't had any issues unless I dont have it lined up or offset distance correct for rifle or pistol. I also use ⅛" brass tubes that are about 6" long to help sight the Lab.

make sure trigger source is set to "Trigger" and not Doppler. Aside from that there's the usual guessing game of what horizontal and vertical alignment it prefers.

edit: don't forget to make sure the unit is actually armed; i had way too many instances where the timeout timer expired and the unit went into standby mode without me knowing. i think one of the later firmware updates allowed you to set it to 10 minutes (600 seconds) so you'll want to make sure your firmware is on the newer side. if i remember right the unit displays an orange light when it is armed.

Unless you are running a suppressor there is zero need for any external trigger.

Try it without the external trigger, also check the unit to see if the date is correct
there is an internal battery that keeps the date and settings.

If others are causing your LR to register shots, adjust the "Trigger Level" setting higher.

per the manual, "Select the sensitivity of the system to detect the trigger event. Use Level 1 unless other shooters nearby are triggering yourLabRadar. The user can select level 1 (more sensitive) through 8(Less sensitive). This setting affects:• The Internal acoustic trigger level;• The External trigger level;"

In my experience when using an external trigger I had to adjust Trigger Level to something > 4 otherwise just breathing near the gun would initiate a phantom shot on the LR. YMMV

Yes I have used and still use one. I have used it for five years and have recorded
thousands of shots mostly centerfire rifle some rimfire rifle and a small sample of pistol.

Just disassembled it to replace the internal battery that is glued in and found some of the molded plastic standoffs were cracked so yes it is cheaply made
but it has been very reliable in picking up shots.

Only when I shoot a rifle with a brake, I need to make sure the the brake gas
does not move the crono.

A number of years ago I was having all sorts of issues with the LR picking up shots. So, I went to the external trigger and it worked great for a while then started missing or recording shots again. I called LR tech support and they were very helpful. They told me to get rid of the external trigger, aim it properly and make sure that it is in front of the muzzle. I did all this and it rarely missed a shot after this. Never used the external trigger again. I did find overall, the cause of the LR missing shots was my failure to arm it. Used to really piss me off.

simple fix buy the magnetic shot sensor from them it is sensitive enough it picks up vibration from opening the bolt 3 years now no more problems

Should be able to tell if it's triggering or not by watching the display. When it detects a shot, the display changes and "thinks" for a second or so before either registering the velocity, giving the acquisition error, or, rather petulantly, simply reverting to its idle state. If it is not triggering, it will just stay in the idle state.

Whether or not you need the remote trigger has a lot to do with your situation: my range has rifle benches about 4' center to center (that's an estimation); without the external trigger I'd be collecting data from at least 3 shooters.
