Kroil as a all purpose cleaner

Thanks Jim,

Guess I`ll have to figure out how to get my hands on some, I`m guessing I`ll have to go a way`s to get it.

I`m lucky like that, nothing ever seems like it`s close to me..... :o

Phil.

Phil, Well you always have a few select individuals like Nancy………. :)……… i'll get the numberLOL. jim

I have heard that it creeps into a millionth of an inch. If that is so, how do it stay in the can?

It doesn't. My can is the one with the rolled on bottom and the benchtop is ALWAYS wet w/ Kroil…… unless I put cardboard under the can w/ a sheet of plastic under the cardboard.

+2 My Kroil can leaks as well in the bottom of my reloading box. I keep a folded paper towel piece underneath it and replace it as necessary.

Mine leaks as well, I thought the Kroil ate a hole in the can, maybe its creeping thru. I'll have to look closer at the can. Its an old can and just started to leak ???

Same here. Their motto is "The oil that creeps". It sure does.

I used it once to free up a corroded bearing inside my whole house humidifier.

Within 3 minutes it drove all the Females out of the house.

The smell nauseated them.

It now resides outside in the tool shed.

Hoppes or Shooters Choice doesn't seem to bother them at all. :-).

Regards,

Steve

I am not sure if it was said the other 4 pages of posts, but I learned the hard way that Kroil should not be used on anything that is meant to work i.e. bolts, triggers, etc...
I used it as a cleaner for my firing pin thinking I would get a cleaner and a lubricant. Nope. It turned into a varnish on the inside of the bolt that had to be cleaned out by the manufacturer (how they did it I don't know but I didn't want to say they machined it out as that may not have been technically correct).
What I can say is that it works great for stuck bolts (as in nut and bolt).

Kroil is not a cleaner or a lubricant, any more than WD40 is. Kroil is a penetrating oil for aiding in the removal of stuck fasteners. WD40 is a water displacement agent to aid in driving water out.

If either of them works in any other capacity, it is not by design.

Relatively sure the people thinking Kroil has some magical powers also believe that their wife is losing weight ;)

Mine has provided as constant source of oil on my bare steel work bench top. Does a nice job of keeping the surface rust free. Wasn't by design by them or me, but I guess it could be called an 'automatic' oiler!
