Kowa Customer Support

I have a Kowa TSN-883 spotting scope. I've been very very pleased with this scope for the past couple of years. The optical quality is as good as any I've looked through, including the Leica and Swarovski, for a bit less money.

Long story short, the lens caps for the scope got misplaced, and today I finally got around to replacing them. I couldn't find them for sale online anywhere, so I called Kowa customer support.

Not only did a real live human being answer the phone after the first ring, but I was transferred to another real live human being who took my info, and said new caps will be in the mail today.

No charge.

I fully expected to get the run-around, waste half a day and pay $50 to get them replaced. To say I'm happily surprised is an understatement. I'm in the market for some high end binoculars, and Kowa just went to the top of the list.

Thought I'd share.

I think most firearms & related companies offer good-to-excellent customer service. Putting together a list of companies that do would be an interesting subject for a new topic. Just off the top of my head, ones in my own experience that have done a good or better job would include:

Henry
Dillon Precision
Weaver Optics
Sightron
S.W.F.A. Inc.
Smith & Wesson
Leupold
Springfield Armory
Midway USA
Marbles
Redfield
Killough Shooting Sports
D. R. Greenlaw Machining (gun rests)

And that's just the ones I can name off the top of my head, and just the ones I have personal experience with. I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I finish typing this.

Now--for the ones that have given me poor customer service:

? None I can think of offhand.

In other areas than guns, etc., customer service hasn't always been so stellar, but I think things are generally good and getting better. Most companies are realizing, I think, that for every customer who complains there are 10 others who don't, but will stop buying their product or service. OTOH, nothing really enhances sales better than a good reputation for quality and customer service, and nothing will put you out of business faster than a poor one. Low price alone just ain't good enough.

The Kowa TSN-883 spotting scope is the best scope on the market at any price. Its nice to know they have good CS, so many companies dont care about their customers once the sale is made.

Some one should start a thread with examples of better then average customer service! It's all good to hear though.

My Kowa TSN 821 got knocked over on the cement floor, cracked housing on the objective end. I;m not the original owner. Didn't cost me a dime to have it repaired. It's nice to be able to talk to real people.
