Regret to share very sad news.

Our friend Konrad Powers has left the range.
He was an accomplished shooter and very generous with his time. A very important mentor to many folks in the XTC game and member of the Illinois XTC community. We needed him to stick around for a longer time and will miss him greatly.

Prayers for him and all his loved ones.

Konrad Powers, age 54, of Wayne, a loving husband, devoted father, passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2024.

Konrad was born on June 8, 1970, in Warsaw, Poland, to Eva Solonowicz. At the age of six, Konrad moved to the United States with his mother to begin a new chapter in Palatine, Illinois, with his adoptive father, James F. Powers. The family later settled in Elburn, Illinois, where Konrad grew up alongside his sister, Eva Marie (Haus).

A graduate of St. Charles High School, Konrad pursued his passion for engineering at Northern Illinois University (NIU), where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was at NIU that he met the love of his life, Leanne. The couple married on April 19, 1996, at Apostles Lutheran Church in Melrose Park, Illinois, and began their life together in Lombard, Illinois. On May 3, 1999, Konrad and Leanne welcomed their son, Nathan, completing their family.

The Powers family spent 18 happy years in Carol Stream, Illinois, before settling in Wayne, Illinois, where Konrad fulfilled his dream of living in a serene, wooded area.

Konrad’s greatest passion was high-power rifle shooting, a hobby he shared with his dad, James, and uncle, John Powers. He became a central figure in the shooting community, serving as the Illinois High Power Chairman and Captain of the Illinois Gold Team for many years. A friend from the shooting community shared this, “Konrad didn’t run the program—he was the program. He influenced so many, not just in Illinois, but across the country.”

In addition to shooting, Konrad enjoyed creating content for his YouTube channel, where he shared his knowledge and passions with a broader audience. When he wasn’t at the range or editing a video, he could often be found spending time with his family, tinkering in his garage, or enjoying the peace of his home.

Konrad is survived by his beloved wife, Leanne; his son, Nathan; and their cherished dog, Tess. He is also survived by his parents, Eva and James Powers; his sister, Eva Marie (Rich Haus); his mother-in-law, Susan Earl; sister-in-law, Jenny (Ken Wegner); nephews Duke and Colton Wegner; nephew Vincent James Zofkie; and niece Barbara Marie Zofkie.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Tadeusz Markiewicz, and his father-in-law, LeRoy Earl.

Konrad will be deeply missed by his extended family, countless friends, and the high-power shooting community he so profoundly impacted.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM at Bucaro Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at, 485 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale IL, 60108.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 9:30 AM, at Bucaro Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Konrad was a one of kind person and massive advocate of High Power Competition. An unsung leader who we all appreciated for being our ISRA HP President.

My deepest condolences to his family and close friends. Konrad was a fun guy and a very serious shooter who we would set our standard of being the high bar in Course Service Rifle. The news was more impactful than we will know for some time. IL HP will not be the same. No Konrad at a National Matches.... Wow, no more Youtube videos we live for.

Not seeing him at a match or for dinner on a Saturday after a Milan match will forever be a void.

God Speed friend.

Am shocked to hear of Konrad passing. I remember when all the Illinois boys would come to STL BR for XC n leg matches in the 80’s. Konrad was just a pup back then.
Always enjoyed shooting with that group n enjoyed their company.
We are diminished!
