Sounds like it might be a good place to hang out most all the time. I sure spend a lot of time in mine. If I'm awake and home my mancave is where I can be found. After my house burned down with 100% loss of 65 guns, hundreds of #s of powder I bought a house that had an art studio attached to a garage. I stripped it. Had a 20" heavy bench made that has double powder measures, double presses, double electronic measures. A cabinet factory is close to my home. I lined the walls with cabinets that keeps powder, loaded rounds, bullets, primers, cases.
I'm a high volume reloader & shooter .
Everytime JD Jones of SSK comes to visit he says " Oh, my, wish I had a set up like this".
My room is reloading paradise!
The harder and more rigid the better. After watching many presses move on even seasoned experts on YouTube , I decided to get a bench frame of rigid iron. I was also fortunate enough to find one. I screwed it down to the floor(all legs , especially back legs), and toe nailed the back of countertop ( hardened dense particle board). I also mounted the pressSo we moved into a new home and I now have my own room for reloading. I am going round and round about how I want to build out my area. I mostly reload standing. I am torn between a full build from scratch, using something like a husky tool chest for storage and building a bench top across a couple of them. Or, using kitchen cabinets, drawers and laminate countertops. Has anyone done this, pros or cons? Thanks in advance and happy thanksgiving.
That is a smart idea.I built a bench in my basement with 4x4 legs 2x4 framing, and a plywood top. Mounted a press on one corner and hung some nice lights above it. I have all my reloading stuff in some old kitchen cabinets that i mounted to the walls. It works great for me.
I also mounted a wood workers vise, thats the kind that mounts under a bench. I then mounted a bunch of stuff, like my gun vise, case trimmer, etc to small lengths of 4x4 and i throw them in that woodworkers vise when i need them. I can crank that vise closed so its out of the way when im not using it.
