King of 2 Mile

timeout

Silver $$ Contributor
Guess that I have been living under a rock as today I watched King of 2 Mile competition for the first time. I did a Google search and subsequently read about it on a past Daily Bulletin. It was interesting to me that the 338 Lapua Improved topped the field containing larger calibers. I'm curious if any AS forum members are shooting in that competition? I did see that Bryan Litz shot the competition and did very well. Any others? Thanks!

I can't remember where it was but I was watching guys building and testing rifles just for this comp. They had some crazy cool rifles!

Where did you see the comp?

I DVR, so I don't miss any. I know there are at least a couple of guys that compete in it that are on here, I'll let them speak up for themselves if they want to.

When I see guys that do well in competition it makes me pay more attention to what they have to say on here.

Would love to try it, but must settle for watching on TV. Even if there was a place to shoot, I couldn't afford it.
Shoot, even if I could I’m not sure I would want to. 50 cents a shot hurts bad enough as is. Now... if someone else has one I’ll shoot that. I don’t mind visiting the beach but I don’t want to own a hurricane policy.

Also see the thread “Ko2M 2017 on Television on the ELR / Ballistics page in this forum.

There's at least 3 that I know of on here.

The FCSA's spring shoot at Raton, will be proceeded by an ELR-fun shoot
Time limits still apply, but we can use any and all spotters or video to help guide shots in. This will be done in the same area we will shoot the competition on (Memorial Day ) weekend.
This does not help you if you don't own a 50 ,, but just watching the teams, and takin note of techniques, will help me get closer to actually trying it for real.
.
If I can work up a chart on these new bullets, I am certainly going to take a stab at it.
The only shot you miss, is the one you don't take, as our director so eloquently put it.

A young lad brought a 50 BMG here. I gave him 10 bucks to squeeze the trigger one time!:D Was afraid it may go all the way through my dirt pile backstop. The pressure from alongside the muzzle brake was considerable. I'll stick with the small guns. Now if I was in the Army and Uncle Sam was buying the ammo I might could enjoy it. :D

Dave, from the target positions posted by Randy, the ELR Targets (for the Fun ELR) are based on the right side (East) of the range. The last 2 years of the KO2M were based off the Left (West) side of the range. I plan to be at both the Spring Match and the WC. If a friend gets his entry in the KO2M, I will be part of his team (spotter). Also, I posted the question about being able to shoot the "Fun ELR" shoot from a bench, due to being disabled, and unable to shoot prone, and the reply indicated it would be permitted (with all the same time limits and rules). This exception is NOT permitted in the KO2M.

Edit to add quote from FCSA site "We are not trying to mimic the King Of 2 Miles. The ELRFS is shot on a different ELR range than the KO2M, it is being developed on the opposite side of the 1000 yard line."
