Kinetic puller question...

Here comes a question that I'm almost ashamed to ask. If i pull bullets out of a case with a kinetic (impact) puller, would i need to resize the necks on the cases before loading them again?

Matt

for practical accuracy, no. (provided the bullets weren't crimped) For match accuracy you'd want to check them so the tension is consistent.

I have done it on numerous occasions. However, I always place them in the "section" for fouling rounds. I have never "trusted" them to be in the "match" section of my cartridge case. One thing I have found to exclusivity, is that they ALWAYS shoot just like the ones for match use! My neck tensions are 1 thousandths or less, so it is doubtful a pulled / re-seated bullet, would have any adverse effect on accuracy because of the near identical neck tensions.

Easy test to determine would be to try and insert a bullet into the neck, if you can insert the new bullet (or old) back into the case neck with just your fingers, need to resize.

Yes, you definitely have to. The reason I say this is that every impact puller I've used, when bullet comes out it bounces off bottom and base of bullet comes back up and hits neck of case. If you look at your case mouth you will easily see it.

I've not used one in a few years however I did stuff a piece of Kleenex in the bottom and it I never had a problem with the case necks getting wacked by the bullet. As someone mentioned some time back an ear plug foamie works well also.
I never have had many to pull but I invested in an RCBS collet puller when I wound up with 100+ 6.5x284's to yank and I probably will not use the inertia puller again as this was just way easier. And then I seated a group of bullets too deep.(don't know how) and the collet puller was perfect for raising the bullet higher to reseat it to the proper depth.

I guess I've made enough double-taps with the kinetic puller to learn the single-tap that pulls a deep set bullet just a bit further out of the case. Perfect for re-seating.

The way to eliminate this problem is to add a small piece of foam in the base of your puller.
