Kinda got the itch for a 22mag.

Thanks guys! I do like the idea of the 455 CZ and being able to switch barrels. I also kinda like the idea of the semi auto like the Magnum Research. I think I’m down to these two rifles. Decisions!

I love the 22 mag. I much prefer it over the 17HMR for what I do with them which is blast rabbits out in the desert. I have the marlin 922M and that thing shoots amazingly well. It will shoot just about any ammo under an inch at 50 yards and the CCI 40gr Maxi Mag HPs under a half. For a cheap rifle it has great looks with the wood stock and deep bluing and has never given me an issue function wise. I pretty much take it with me anytime I go out in the hills. It has killed countless rabbits and a few coyotes over the years that were very unfortunate to cross my path.

When the 17HMR first came out and that's all everyone could talk about I held off for a couple years then decided to drink the cool aid and give it a try. I bought the exact same rifle as my trusty 22 mag a 917V and all the different ammo available for it. Put it through its paces for about a year and yeah it worked but it didn't make jack rabbits pop like the 22 mag did and it didn't shoot any better either. I didn't feel like it gave me any advantage over the 22 mag at all especially in the pocket book since the cost of ammo was almost double what the 22 mag was. Needless to say, I don't own the 17 anymore.

Mine is a Marlin 782 shot good with Federals better with Armscorp 22 mag ammo.

I tried to like 17HMR too. A friend bought one recently so I get to see if I feel the same way.
