Ken waters pet loads

One of my favorite reads. A little dated on components but a wealth of loading information. A must for any shooting and reloading enthusiast. Mine are probably 30 years old and a little rough around the edges.

Guess I should have purchased that book years ago for a better price!!!!! Ha Ha Ha !!!!! I still don't have them tho, I've often been tempted, but, I'll pass for that price!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An invaluable reference source. Many don't like to read paper or pay for it these days, but "Pet Loads" will remain among the very best of handloading books, even if some of the data is dated and the newest allegedly improved duplicate of some old powder is not included. As for gunwriters that wrote of handloading, the late Ken Waters was probably #1, even if he might occasionally go into more detail than some readers need or want. His articles were 100% handloading with no tales, war stories, or superfluous material to take up space.

Heck Dusty you oughta know that an old, used book will have a wealth of load data hand-written in the margins. That’s easily worth the extra $795. For those willing to own a copy without all the enhancements, Wolfe Publishing will sell you a crappy virgin book for $60.

Thanks for reminding me, forgot I even had these. Dated but still a lot of useful information in them. :)

Problem with some of his PET LOADS is they are waaaaaaaaay over pressure for a lot of firearms. His book does have some good reading though.

I guess the hardback original volume 1 that I have must be worth $1600 easy. LOL! Wolfe is the publisher and I guess they republish as many times as the please.

I don’t think I would agree with “waaaaaay over pressure” other than the odd firearm or a really old piece. Most avid hand loaders with much experience would recognize this before any dangerous loads were fired in that particular firearm. I think Ken Waters probably forgot more than most “new experts” will ever know. Just my opinion.
