Kelbly and Farley triggers

I will be on the market for a new trigger soon on an action which will be used for 600yd BR (I want the trigger at 2 oz for this), as well as 1K BR and F class (bigger caliber,I want about 6-8oz for this).
Has anyone tried the Kelbly or Farley triggers? How do they compare to the Jewells if I want to adjust the weight sometimes?

I had a number of jewel triggers but the newer ones have problems, i now have 3 Kelbly triggers and no longer have problems....jim

+1 on the Kelbly. I bought one when a Jewell went belly up right before the FC World Championships in 2005. I have since replaced my other Jewells with Kelbly's.
No problems and great people to deal with. Just move a pin in top of trigger to change weights.

I have three Jewel triggers. One on a Benchrest rifle and two others on hunting rifles. All are ten plus years old with no problems with any of them. The bench rest rifle is set for an 1 1/2oz and the hunting rifles at two lbs. Easy to set trigger weights with just a spring change. All adjustments are from the bottom without having to remove the action from the stock.

I'm sure the other two triggers are fine products as well.

When changing weights, I will be switching stocks at the same time, so no issues with removing the action from the stock to change weight. How about Farleys, anyone tried them?

Larry, I use to tear them apart when i got them new and deburr them straighten the bent side plates stone every thing and they would work. Then i got a Kelbly, put them in adj. them a shoot.
What makes Kelbly good ? They work, easy to adj. ,all machined, no stampings with bends and burrs, if use a trigger hanger its a no brainer....jim

Love my Kelbly trigger. Shot it yesterday for first time on my new build and it went off twice before I was 100% ready, there is zero creep, and its like a piece of fine china glass when it breaks. IMHO, far better than the newer Jewells.

I understand(based on this PS article) it fixes a problem common with Remington & stolle actions running with other triggers: http://www.precisionshooting.com/psm_2006_11_issue.html

But this doesn't say to me that Jewells have any issues. And for all I know(at this point) Jewell is better suited for my preferred action(BAT).
Has anyone tested a Kelby on a BAT, or a Stiller?

Mikecr, just put a Kelbly in a Bat B and pin fall is .242, works good.You know about the bat trigger hangers and the numbers, mine is on 0......jim

One Kelby is on a BAT M and I also use the number 0 with it...

Do you notice that with the Kelbly trigger on your BAT, the angle of trigger pull is different than that of your Jewell trigger? I have heard that the hinge pin location of the Kelbly is different than the Jewell. I have a BAT DS on order and am just weighing my options between the two. Is it worth the extra $75 to go with the Kelbly?

In addition to my Jewel, i have tied a Canjar Light pull, and a Shilen 2 oz. on my Viper. In all cases I could see no difference in ignition, at the target. My latest rifle (used) has an early Hart, it works fine. I feel kind of out of it....no trigger problems to complain about. I must be doing something wrong. One thing that I might suggest, that may make absolutely no difference, with the trigger unmounted, hold thumb pressure on the top lever and then pull the trigger, noting the residual up pressure after the trigger releases. There are substantial differences between the various designs in reset force, which the bottom of the cocking piece sees, as it slides forward from the cocked position. I have no idea if this matters.

I have 10 Jewell HVRs, three Kelblys, one Davies, and a CG Extreme M22 on LR prone, tactcal, & BR rifles. None of them have given any problems that I didn't cause (improper adjustments) in the first place. All but one of the Jewells are still set just as they came out of the package, with the one on a BR rifle set at 1/2lb. It's excellent at that weight. The Kelblys were all purchased 2nd hand - one still new in the wrapper, the other two had been tinkered with, and gave me problems. I returned them to Kelbly with a note explaining that they were purchased used, and I had them back, good as new - no charge - within a week. They replaced a couple of non-original springs that the previous owner had installed, and had them set right where I want them for prone shooting. I think the Kelblys are happier when set at something under a pound, and have the ones on my BAT 3Ls set at around 8oz. Maybe a little light for prone use, but I've gotten used to it, and really like the Kelblys.

BTW - every one of the 10 Jewells I have were purchased new within the past 6yrs, so I'm not sure what all the talk about 'newer Jewells' is aimed at.

In the PS article I linked, what is the 'fall' referred to?

I'm pretty sure Bruce has designed his actions to provide proper striker travel with Jewell triggers. And Jewell triggers are 'Remington-style' triggers, right?
I don't know, seems like there is potential to learn something here.

I sell more Jewell triggers than anyone. I have been in the Jewell market for 6 plus yrs. If there was a quality issue, I can assure you, I would be made aware of it by my customer base. Sound like a typical gun board rumor, thats being passed along by persons who dont own the product. Larry in western Ky.

I use more Jewels than anything, I get em from Larry! But, I've used an old Hart and also a Shilen. The Shilen was very sensitive to cleanliness, had to be flushed out more often than others, but worked well. Never used a Kelbly...yet.

So nobody has used a Farley?
