Keeping ammo warm in cold weather

I like to shoot year-round and play with load development endlessly.

In winter i shoot in single digits and I’ve tried to control ammo temps (25 rounds is not a problem in heavy winter coat). I’ve ignored them too and let the ammo get cold. I did not see a difference in performance either way.

If it concerns you just bring a small cooler, towel, and several handwarmers. Keep your ammo box packed in there with a handwarmer underneath.

I have a hard cooler. The square red or blue from wally world...I use to put my .22 bricks in. Keeps big changes from happening..out of warm truck into cold weather or the opposite.
Haven't thought about my 6BR. Don't shoot much in cold weather.

I agree with Mike and David above. Use an ammo wallet (or a magazine) you can keep in an inside coat pocket. Last time I looked most people run about the same temperature regardless of ambient temps. Should be consistent enough if you're worried about it.

You ain't going to keep your ammo warm up here above the 49th unless you keep it in your pocket or on the wood burning stove in the cabin...

Yuppers,,, don't over think it,,, keep all the ammo at the same temp on -60c works just fine...

The tricky'est part of cold weather shooting is getting a frozen finger to pull the trigger... Ha
